I updated the original post of this thread. I originally had the development at 8 Shoreview Place labelled as 101 Shoreview place.

Hamilton Community News: Hamilton council approves two Stoney Creek six-storey lakeshore high-rises

By Kevin Werner | January 29, 2016

Hamilton politicians have approved another residential development plan that will see two six-storey buildings located on the north side of the Queen Elizabeth Way in Stoney Creek.

The development, part of the large Shoreview Place development project, will have 468 residential units, plus 10 block townhouse units at 101 Shoreview Place.

The planning committee had to approve an amendment to the Urban Hamilton Official Plan to allow an increase from 200 units per hectare to 208.7 units per hectare.

There will be nearly 600 parking spaces available on the surface and underground.

A holding provision recommended by planning staff to allow for a number of reports to be completed, including traffic and environment, was dropped by councillors.

Stoney Creek councillor Maria Pearson said the developer will be “working with staff” to get the project ready for construction. She said the needed reports “have already been done and there was no need to hold up the project.”

The Lakewood Beach Community organization stated the development "should be more intense" by increasing the height of the buildings rather than spreading the development outward. The community group also stated the proposal would have an impact to the surrounding community through traffic, and stormwater.

It pointed out that to the east of the development is a nine-storey condominium unit, and to the west there is a 17-storey development. The members point out that since the approval of the Green Millen Shores residential development in 2010 it has grown from about 1,000 units to nearly 2,000 units being constructed.

It is projected to be the largest urban development project around Lake Ontario, engulfing 30 acres of lakefront property.

Besides Green Millen, New Horizon Homes is constructing 207 residential units in the area as well.

Residents have been complaining about the traffic and parking issues because of the developments.

City staff did recommend a holding provision on the development so the owners, LPF Reality Residential Inc., could provide the necessary traffic, natural heritage and servicing concerns with the north side of Shoreview Place west of Millen Road, east of Green Road. But an amendment by the planning committee meeting removed the provision.
