Wow, that's a pretty impressive video. Will be interesting to see if they can make this happen.

I live in Atlanta and I hate our skyline here. It has too many gaps and holes in it. Our Atlanta downtown and midtown skyline looks like a skyline version of a toothless hillbilly’s mouth. We never have anything tall in the pipeline here to properly fill those gaps...

It’s also why I completely hate this Newpark development in Dallas. It’s separated from the main downtown skyline cluster with lots and lowrises between them. I also hate the revisions since the Smart District plans. The tallest now looks so uninspiring and is definitely not a supertall or even close to that height, whereas in the smart district plan it looked like it had a supertall (or something 900 ft or taller) and several other tall buildings.

I guess if you wanna be technical it’s better than what’s currently there now but I hate the scaledown and uninspiring plans in that video. Smart District was superior to it. The only saving grace for this Newpark plan is that at street level it’s pretty urban and welcoming to pedestrians... because away from the ground it’s design can be confused with hundreds of projects around the globe.

I love Dallas but I have to be honest, I hate this Newpark development. Reminds me of the shit I see here in Atlanta.

I love Dallas. Really so happy with all the growth downtown and the Turtle Creek area over the past decade.

Small but lovely project on Fort Worth's Magnolia Ave, a 100 unit mixed use building.

I think it is safe to say the building boom is coming to a hard slow, if not an end. I still think DFW will be better off than other cities across the country. But I don't think we won't shrug off the effects of this depression and the collapse of the Quantitative Easing bubble. (Everything Bubble)

The best part is that the building it is replacing is hideous.

That's great for that location - and I didn't realize that there were ongoing plans for more towers along Cadiz St. I haven't kept up with Dallas development for a while now. Very cool to see!

Somewhat related since it's in the area - are there any serious plans to cap I-30 or is that just a pipe dream?

That's gonna be huge for the downtown skyline, stretching south, especially the later phases, if they have any height to them (assuming yes). I've always wanted high rises to develop on the southeast side of downtown in the surface lots leading over to I-75 and approaching Deep Ellum. I hope that's the next frontier - along with this - in the downtown Dallas skyline.

It’s Highway 75 not an interstate, though there has long been rumors of making it one and extending I-45 into Oklahoma.

It seems like the Ross & Routh area would be a target for future skyline growth next to the Arts District and adjacent to Uptown. There is an existing DART station nearby, I wonder if they would ever build another station around where the tracks go underground at Ross?

I'm not sure how to quantify the probability but yes, the plans are serious. The city's already decking I-35 near the zoo so there's clearly precedence.

Technically Interstate 345 is the elevated freeway that divides East Quarter from Deep Ellum.

Ha! Clearly I had my highway nomenclature incorrect, but you all get the area I was talking about. Po-tay-to, Po-tah-to.

I think they will consolidate into the new office building planned for McKinney Ave.
