It always impresses me how much Saint Louis punches above its weight when it comes to new construction compared to similar sized cities.

Redevelopment planned for remaining part of former Magic Chef factory on the Hill

More info at cityscene-stl.com: link

This building used to stretch for several blocks. Sadly, about 2/3 of it was raised for the cheap, ugly "La Collina" development by suburban cul-de-sac builder McBride Homes. Everything painted white in the image below was razed...

...for this ugly, paper maché garbage:

Sometimes St. Louis makes me want to scream.

I understand that the city is desperate for redevelopment opportunities, but this is just disgusting.

City Foundry is coming along nicely - despite COVID 19 - slow downs.

More work is to be done such as signage, painting etc.

City Foundry St. Louis is near the St. Louis University campuses, CORTEX, Armory District, IKEA etc.

$134k building permit application submitted for rehab of 5109 Maple

There's a ton of rehabbing going on in the Central Corridor and on the South Side but I'm highlighting this one (red brick with turret in the image below) because it's representative of how Washington University is driving revitalization on the North Side as well now. This is in the Academy neighborhood, just northeast of Forest Park and Wash U's main campus.

Washington University has been such a catalyst in St. Louis' comeback.

WUSTL may end doing for the West End what it has done for Forest Park SE.

I was mistaken. It's a Cornerstone project, not a WUSTL project.

4201 West Pine - A townhouse tri-level infill project in the Central West End. These start at $1,050 million. The neighborhood is nice and I like the personal verandas, but I personally would not pay $1-million to be attached others.
