I don't think so.
The developer has said that the Harbour Gateway will be a gift to Hong Kong after she will have returned China for 10 years.
Harbour Gateway????

A gift by whom ?
It's an office building. Would the tenants be included in the gift ?

wow 2 swire 60+ office towers in east matrix ...
thats awesome ...
this must be a pretty long-term project or else it will create heavier burden for the supply of office space ...

Over 3msf is a lot indeed.
I guess the project will be phased.

For gateway III, i never want it to get built....
i can hardly imagine a 90 storeys building right at the harbour front....
it will be so wierd without any tall bulding around it, kinda like harbourfront landmark.... it does not fit the skyline at all

Gateway III and The Ocean Terminal

The ocean terminal has started to serve for large oceanliners for more than 30 years. In order to cope with the increase demand of the service, the co-operation of the Ocean Terminal has launched its redevelopment program since 1997. New office buildings were built. The Ocean Terminal will be renovated soon and gives a new image to the visitors. The heart of the project is the construction of a 96-storey, 405m height tower, known as the Gateway III.

In 2002, the government rejects the building of the skyscraper. Instead, a giant observation wheel will be built.

good news?

The wheel would be located at the tip of the Ocean Terminal; while Gateway III would be at the site of the current Ocean Centre(?)

I guess it would be good if the wheel would be built near the 96 storey building. They will complement each other. How tall is this wheel?

No, please.
It's been done before. In Yokohama.
The tall and beautiful Landmark Tower looks challenged by the wheel.
