(my impression is that we have seen lots of proposals and little actual construction so far, but I don't feel very sure about that.) could someone point to a list of currently u/c projects in downtown SJ? (or if not too much trouble, summarize briefly here?)

edit: never mind, this does the trick

Nice pics.

Are the Miro Towers the ones right next to City Hall?

Miro Towers tops out as San Jose's tallest buildings at 298 feet.

Quote:
Slated for completion in spring 2021, the 298-foot-tall Miro would be the tallest building in San Jose when completed.

Since downtown San Jose has height restrictions due to the airport but what areas of the city would taller buildings be allowed or is the city very strict about that?

The height restrictions are due to the airport, which is close to all of San Jose's office districts (downtown, north SJ). There are far-flung corners of San Jose where the FAA doesn't restrict heights as tightly, but those areas are not suitable for skyscraper development. Downtown and North SJ are where skyscrapers would pencil out, but for the height limits.

Oh man, let me tell you--the skyline has really changed since our high school track coaches had us running 'laps' over the Hedding overpass as part of our daily routine a zillion years ago! At that time, off in the smoggy distance the only buildings that announced their presence were the Bank of Italy building, the dingy twin "Towers @ 2nd," Comerica Bank, and Tower 55 (every one of these was called something else back then, just using the newer names). Downtown at that time still felt bombed out and empty, full of vast and half-used parking lots, and the skyline just sucked--from every angle.

https://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/...e-project.html

Quote:
Real estate investment trust Boston Properties is aiming to turn an approximately 3.57-acre pay-to-park surface lot that it owns into two 16-story towers that would each stand 283 feet tall, the maximum allowable height for that area.

The project, for now called Almaden Office Project, would also include a combined total of more than 39,000 square feet of amenity/food and beverage space on the towers' ground floors. It proposes three levels of underground parking totaling 1,343 parking spaces as well as 319 bicycle spaces.

As for whether the Boston-based company is going to wait to pre-lease the Almaden Office Project before breaking ground on it, Fenton said in an email that it will "track market conditions and make the decision when it needs to be made."

Rendering with 200 Park Ave & City View Plaza. These 3 projects will for sure make downtown San Jose more modern and definitely something to be proud of for those around the area. Wished it included Miro Towers, The Graduate and SJSU science building.
