here's a link to the PDF presentation: https://uabsports.com/documents/2019...ion_091819.pdf

basically what we saw last week, but some additional images released as well.

i, for one, am relatively satisfied. $174 million was not a lot to work with.

pics from al.com:

This is quite nice. I like it.

Here is a link to the Protective Stadium construction site. It has started to get a little crowded down there.

Not too big, not too small, can be expanded to 70,000+. After all the dome talk in the area for the past 2.5 decades I think a lot of us were a bit disappointed; but, in the end I think it's pretty adequate.

On the right side of the bowl at the opening not to far and to the right of the red crane, is that the beginning of a tower crane??

Thanks for all the photos and updates, Tim!

I reallllllly wanna know what is going to happen to Brown-Marx. IMO, that building is the crown jewel of the HCOE. The amount of work they're putting into stabilizing the building, I can't imagine there isn't a plan to redevelop it soon.

But damn, if they transform that building into a hotel or condo/apartment building, that would put SO many more people in downtown. If it were converted into a hotel, that would put 4 hotels within a block of the Heaviest Corner On Earth... I can't even imagine what that could do for businesses in the neighborhood.

Awesome committment by the developer for the former Trinity Medical site ^^^^

BTW, Birmingham World Games 2021 have been postponed to 2022 because Tokyo postponed to 2021. Frankly, I think this is excellent for Birmingham, Alabama, and the US. Not only will this postponement allow construction to complete a brand new stadium to host the opening/closing ceremony, and potentially have Birmingham's BRT line to be completed in time, but it will give the city much more time to build on past would have/could haves and make the event so much better than it would have been.

I'm sad that a pandemic caused this, but it will beneficial in the end.

Thanks for the updates, Tim!

I'm gonna try to get some update photos from the construction on Protective Stadium. Wish I could get some pictures of potential construction on Legacy Arena, but but of course, from what we've read, construction hasn't started.

It's great to see all of the continuing construction, I just hope that contractors are employeeing social distancing.

not much happening on the outside yet, except for window replacement.

Lakeview Green

was able to get some better pics of that steel structure on 29th. will this be retail?

not sure what this steel structure is on the 5th avenue side, but man this facade looks sooo much better than the 4th ave side..

Protective Stadium

managed to get some shots from all around the site. you can see the steel structure going up for the suites on the west side.

this proposal certainly came out of nowhere... i'll remain cautiously optimistic:

New $250m skyscraper, The Block, proposed for 2nd Ave N Birmingham

development website:

https://theblock.live/

this would have the tallest occupiable floor in the state (i believe the RSA Tower in mobile, with its spire, would still be taller though)

Don't get me wrong, I hope this happens. But....this entire project REEKS. Its like Fyre Music Festival if it were a development project.

If you go on their website, the numbers seem inflated and the developer doesn't seem to have any experience in completing projects much less getting them off the ground.
