The massive, oceanfront ultra-fancy skyscrapers across the street also look schlocky and out of place.

Some are better than others, but overall, they look pretty good to me. Porsche, Turnberry, and the Ritz are gorgeous.

Acqualina and Jade look like they were made for Russian and Israeli mobsters.

Also, is it correct that the City of Sunny Isles refused to rezone the west side of Ocean Blvd.? If so, that's a shame because all of those strip malls and gas stations look shlocky and out of place when contrasted to the ultra-fancy skyscrapers across the street.
Thank you! Yes, I can't remember all the details, but I believe you can't go above a certain height on the West side of Collins. Also, Dezer's towers across the intercostal was just turned down.

That’s a shame. All of those strip malls and gas stations don’t look good.

I’d like to see one lane of traffic closed in each direction on Collins and replaced with wider landscaped sidewalks.

Towers on the west side of Collins would look much better than massive beachfront towers. Looks so out of proportion and artificial from many angles.

I agree, but the problem is that the oceanfront property is so expensive that the developers felt compelled to maximize their profits. The town could have limited the height of new towers like Bal Harbour did.

Yeah, I get it. If the west side of Collins could at least be developed to some significant height, then I think it would offset the "wall" effect right on the beach.
