I'm glad to see Corpus get some love. Have they had much in the way of urban infill or anything? I never really hear much about the place.

Corpus is one of my favorite cities in Texas. I've been saying for a couple years that CC is the next big city in our state, if not the region.

There was a new low rise urban style downtown apartment building put up a few years ago.

Not at all disagreeing, but given that I'm not very familiar with CC either, why do you say that? What's driving it to be the next big city?

One of the deepest ports in the US. LNG, petrochemicals, import, export business, etc. eventually tourism will come into play too when the city gets bigger and gets more touristy things IMO

N90 nailed it. CC has already gotten billions of dollars of foreign investment (Chinese, Saudi and German so far). Port Aransas, PINS, and Schlitterbahn are nearby. They have a good aquarium and the USS Lexington. And I just love the vibe of the town.

Nice! I went there a few times as a kid and passed through there a lot on the way to the valley, but beyond that I know very little about CC. Cool to hear of all the stuff happening there and the potential for more.

The FAA permit for this building notes that it's a 5-story office building with a 6th floor roof deck. With the mechanical penthouse it says the height comes to 188 feet.

Frost Bank is leaving its uptown skyscraper for a new home it's building

Chris Ramirez, Corpus Christi Caller-Times Published 1:36 p.m. CT Oct. 23, 2017 | Updated 8:40 p.m. CT Oct. 23, 2017

Frost Bank will soon be moving out of the uptown Corpus Christi skyscraper that bears its name.

The bank plans to relocate its office staff to a four-story building it is constructing near the waterfront. It's doing so because bank’s property lease at Frost Bank Plaza is due to expire in 2019, said Bill Day, a Frost Bank spokesman.

The bank applied for a permit on the waterfront property earlier this month, Day said.

A timeline for construction and when its employees would vacate the tower is unclear.

Stewart Beach Pavillion Galveston

A new pavilion designed by Rogers Partners has been approved by Galveston's Park Board of Trustees.

Quote:
At the March 27, 2018 Park Board of Trustees meeting a concept report and drawings for a new pavilion at Stewart Beach, Galveston, TX were presented by Rogers Partners as their final deliverable from work that began in June of 2017. Their presentation provided for the style of the building, potential materials and the overall functional aspects of the program; including operational and administrative spaces, meeting and gathering areas and potential revenue generating areas to offset the operations and maintenance of the facility.

The Trustees unanimously moved to approve the concept report and drawings as they relate to the style, materials and programming for a new pavilion at Stewart Beach. This endorsement will allow staff to continue moving forward with an operations, maintenance and revenue assessment in comparison to an initial construction cost estimate.

Does anyone have access to this article? A lot of urban infill is starting to be developed in Corpus Christi. The new harbor bridge will be done within three years and I can imagine that the city will be ready to further capitalize on tourism and industry by then.
