Just flew through SLC a few days ago, looking forward to the new airport soon. It looks very similar to the new T3 in Phoenix, which is nice.

I drove past the new airport last night. I did see where the trax station is going to be... in fact they were putting the rails in.

Also they had some airplanes parked at a few of the new gates. They must be testing them out.

They’ve been bringing in aircraft to Mark where paint needs to go for the ground marshallers, fuel trucks, and other ground equipment around each gate. I’m sure you’ve noticed that each gate at an airport has painted markings on the ground to Indicate the exact place to park the nosegear for each aircraft type. Those markings have to be tested and verified for each gate before they can be finalized.

Well that was two hours I certainly wish I could have back. Didn’t really get to see anything that I hadn’t already seen. Was hoping to see the delta sky club but I guess I’ll have to wait until I fly. Was cool to see a rendering of the tunnel artwork. Supposed to represent a river.

This 7 minute video interview has some interesting facts. What I liked about it was where the interview took place. The Canyon is really stunning with the colored lighting.

Thanks for sharing the pictures!
Anyone ever flown through the Pittsburgh airport? Our new one seems to be almost exactly the same layout, though much brighter on the inside.

My pop was one of the electricians who installed all those lights but he never saw them lit. I sent him these pictures and he was very impressed. As am I!

It's nice to finally have an airport that actually feels like an international airport. The old one, while designed well, was extremely dated. This one will definitely move SLC International up the list in style.

I know I'm a broken record, but I love everything about the new airport except the terminal frontage. Small and very unimpressive.
