Cross-post from the General Rumor thread. What a beauty. Such a simple thing can make a big difference. Didn't even know there was a competition.

Kind of wish we had gates at all entrances, but maybe with some uniqueness for each.

Two Carleton University architecture students have designed the winning selection for a new gate at Ottawa's Confederation Park.

The new commemorative gate at the park's Laurier Avenue entrance would mark the 150th anniversary of the Governor General's Foot Guards, the senior reserve infantry regiment in Canada.

Beautiful. Looks like something Ottawa would typically not be worthy of... haha

I like it, gives me big Central Park vibes. I had a look at the other contestants and this one was the clear winner, IMO. Hope the fundraising is successful and the final product turns out as good as the rendering.

New skate park under construction at Riverain Park. Insulation has been installed at base and filled/leveled with GA since photo was taken.

Has any work started on the new dock at Riverain Park? I'm excited to bring my kayak there.

Not sure if this has been posted already.

Looks like there are plans to redevelop Mooney's Bay Beach. Long overdue IMO!

Actually really glad they are developing a lot of the beaches. They need more things there and actual central places that can service people who do end up going to the beaches. A bunch of development and things around a set number of beaches (would be nice if they figured out what we could do with the beaches during the winter) is exactly what we need.

Beach at Lebreton Flats would've been nice.
I remember at the LF open house "Beach" card had the most voting stickers on it.

Would be very cool, the proximity to the dams might be an issue (there are solutions but still a liability). A downtown beach would be super popular though!

Some swimming and diving structures would be amazing additions to the central river.

We have Petrie, Westboro (though closed this year) and Britannia. The former two will be relatively accessible by O-Train. Same with Mooney's Bay.

This is from 10 days ago but I saw the place at World Exchange is fenced off and the trees have been cut.

Could always create something like Sugar Beach in Toronto, which you can't actually swim at. https://www.toronto.ca/data/parks/pr...261/index.html

Don't forget Parc Moussette and Parc des Cèdres.
