That was another possibility in my head; in the elevator lobby in the "courtyard" between Tower C and Podium. That would make sense in the car-centric society of the 70s, going up from the parking garage directly to the entrance of the cinema. If that was the case, it seems they boarded up that entrance. It's now gypsum board with a bench and plants in front of it.

Hi guys, has there been any new developments at PdV lately? I know its a ghost town but any building mods or construction happening or renos?

Such a missed opportunity for a directly connected LRT stop.

We used to walk down there once or twice a week to/from the train, but we haven't been since early March now we're working from home. I hope they took the opportunity to get things done while the place was empty.

I love when someone gets our hopes up that something is actually happening on a particular project by asking if anyone has an update

Place de Ville underground concourse renos. Finally! Looking from the Marriott entrance towards the Podium elevators. But quite disappointed. Very white and sterile. Hopefully it's improved with furniture, retailers, people. Murals would be great.

No accessibility improvements so far.

That is terribly sad looking. It look like the temporary walls malls put up when they are building new stores behind them, but I don't think this is temporary judging by the tiling at the base.

And a 3-step stairs to annoy a wheelchair or rolling cart.

Would have been so easy to add a ramp. Even a simple wooden ramp.

The crazy thing is, I think I recall a ramp on the other side of the Marriott doors leading up to the elevator...

Yeah, a ramp or a lift. Makes little sense since a person in a wheel chair can't get anywhere else in that little hallway.

They redid the lobby area of PdV I. Looks terrible. White with a modern mall bathroom pattern. The arches look odd with this new cladding. Looks like plain white drywall from across the street. The mid-century pink granite was so much more interesting.

Why invest in areas that are not necessary like the lobby when that could be invested in better upgrades for the basement level of fixing the now buried fountain.

This was an easy one. I just search PdV, and three threads came up;
  • PdV Facelift;
  • PdV possibilities once LRT opens;
  • PdV III (Podium replacement).

I thought this one here was the best fit.

Some movement. Not very impressive though.

From Shane on RailFans Discord.

Marriott still not accessible.

The original vision for Ottawa's Place de Ville phase II. A quote from Urbsite's article:

Here's phase 1 as it exists today, with the Skyline (now Delta) hotel out of frame to the left:

The plan included burying Queen Street for one block:

After the OMB and NCC quashed the taller proposal, they came up with a new plan, a hotel, office tower and theatre in between, all attached to a continuous podium:

http://urbsite.blogspot.com/2021/10/...-place-de.html

Well worth a read, or at least view all the images.

We have three PdV related threads.

Facelift: https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/sho...ighlight=place
Possibilities with the O-Train: https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/sho...ighlight=place
The now dormant Podium replacement proposal: https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/sho...ighlight=place

What would people think of just having one Place de Ville thread in the Downtown section?

We now have only a single PdV thread. The oldest thread wins:
