This is gonna be really cool. HR! are great live and the setting is really unique. Don't know how they're going to configure a stage and services and everything in such a small spot though.

Hey Rosetta! will be the headline act for a concert on Georges Island on Sat., July 21, during the visit of the tall ships to the Halifax waterfront.

The concert, for those 19 years of age or older, will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with additional acts to be announced as they are confirmed.

Tickets go on sale online at noon, Friday at www.my-waterfront.ca.

Very interesting. The Federal Government allocated $3.5 million dollars to Georges Island back in January 2010. Here is a thread with news details http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=178117. They were planning to have it open to the public in 2012. I wonder if sewer and washrooms were installed? (It is hard to imagine how it could be done without being noticed though ...)

I would imagine they'd have to be if they're anticipating up to 2 thousand people on the island, but true I don't ever recall seeing any kind of construction work or anything occurring.

Yep, I am so ignorant, and clueless. Me and Donald Tarlton:

Promoter drops Bruce Springsteen ticket sales goal
Donald Tarlton says 25,000 to 30,000 fans are expected in Moncton
CBC News Posted: Aug 17, 2012 12:13 PM AT Last Updated: Aug 17, 2012

The promoter for the upcoming Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concert is lowering expectations for the size of crowd predicted in Moncton on Aug. 26.

When the Bruce Springsteen concert was announced in April, the city estimated the outdoor concert could draw 70,000 to Magnetic Hill.

Donald Tarlton said in an interview on Friday that ticket sales would be closer to 25,000 to 30,000.

“We are not going to do the record-breaking numbers that we did for U2,” Tarlton said.

The Boss played to an ecstatic crowd of over 30,000 at Magnetic Hill. The other 30,000 that were on the fence of whether to go or not opted not to go due to lack of knowledge of the Boss and the E-Street Band and negative publicity by Waye Mason types. As a result the 30,000 that didn't go missed one of the best shows on earth and the "greatest rock and roll band on the planet" ....nice going!

Rush sold out at the Metro Centre in about an hour after tickets went on sale on Saturday morning. Did anyone else here get tickets?- Wishblade I'm lookin' in your direction

I've heard rumors of a potential second show, given how much time there is between scheduled shows before/after Halifax on the tour already, 6 days on either side... who knows!

Second Rush show added at Metro Centre

http://www.news957.com/2013/03/11/se...-metro-centre/

Jennifer Howell Mar 11, 2013 07:53:29 AM

RUSH has added a second Metro Centre show after overwhelming demand for the band’s first show in Halifax in 25 years.

“We are thrilled that the good folks of Halifax have forgiven our long absence from their beautiful city and have decided to come out and celebrate with us!!” said Geddy Lee in a release from the band.

The group will now perform July 12 and July 14. Tickets for Rush’s second show go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. Tickets range in price from $69.50 to $124.50.

The tour is in support of Rush’s 20th studio album, Clockwork Angels.

Huh.

Have international big-name acts ever done more than a single show in Halifax?

Elton John sold out back-to-back shows in 2008 (13,000 tickets each night at the Metro Centre).
