Didn't see that coming at all... not at all. No one ever predicted that amount of vandalism the funicular would see. All the detractors of the project were wrong.

Oh and Prairie Sky? Won't have the same issues either... Cause things. right? Things?

The gondola will have ticket gates to prevent folks from hopping on and off like the LRT.

I guess that will stop some of it, at least the glass smashy smashy.

Wont stop tagging/etc, but that's easier to deal with

I will miss one of my favourite, albeit sketchy trails, but this is beautiful.

I could be in a very small minority, but that looks way over-wrought, and will soon get pretty unwelcome once the inevitable maintenance neglect kicks in.

Noticed the use of old logs for some stabilization and protecting new trees. Also used on Connors hill.

In a few years these spots will look more natural.

Why is there always a safety barrier, and why don't they create paths/stairs down to the actual water every so often. one of the most frustrating things in Edmonton is getting near the water always involves climbing down a 20' wall of mud.

Whenever I'm elsewhere, I always enjoy sitting on some rocks along the water, be it a river, lake, or ocean. Seems to always have a barrier in Edmonton. For instance, the entire riverfront at Louise Mckinney, there is no need for that railing, let me sit on the edge, with my legs hanging over and enjoy the water. I will never understand the way they build river paths/trails here.

What would happen without that barrier there? People could actually go and sit on those rocks, or along that edge and enjoy the view.

Winnipeg's riverfront along the Assiniboine is completely open and water level, Calgary's new riverfront paths are fantastic and step down to the water. Vancouver's ocean front is completely open; same goes for Toronto's lake front. I don't know who is designing Edmonton's, but please stop.

It's almost rococo in its treatment. Landscaping architecture run amok.

Right now, I'm just glad that trail has finally reopened because I was getting sick and tired of the detour along Scona Road. That construction took several months if not a year.

Please add more trees that bloom early in the spring, cherry blossoms or the like. They add so much at a time of the year where it is very blah.

Also, more kale plantings.

This, we need the red that the maples provide out in Ontario and Quebec. Luckily, I've seen more 'Autumn Blaze' maples and similar varietals being planted in parks and along arterials recently, so perhaps they are of the same mindset.

Also the northern pin oak. Look particularly nice this year with our gorgeous autumn.

LOTS AND LOTS of coniferous trees, please! It's what makes the winter season so special. The river valley would look bare without them, come winter.

I'd add that the coniferous trees on the north side of whitemud (between 66th and 91st, going from memory) several years ago have really come of age and look great!

Sneak peek of the MUP on the Groat Bridge. I think it will be bigger.
