Centralcon Shangsha:

Quote:
The project is located in Shenzhen administrative, cultural and business center - Futian District. North of the city, "aorta" Binhedadao, xiasha west, east Che Kung Temple, south balcony Shenzhen Bay, convenient transportation and a variety of supporting facilities, strong business climate.

Project planning and architectural design fully consider the relationship between people and the environment, highlighting the "human-centered" design thinking to create a more relaxed, "ecological" pleasant urban environment.

Project set office, residential, shopping, leisure and entertainment, large "urban complex."

Just a reminder: If any of you are wondering why some of the paragraphs sound sloppy in their English, its the translating feature as all of these projects are in Chinese originally.

Goettsch Partners to Design High-Rise Complex in Shenzhen

Quote:
Architecture firm Goettsch Partners (GP) has been hired to design a massive project located in Neighborhood 2 of Shenzhen’s Qianhai district. The project covers 6.2 hectares and includes five commercial towers totaling 450,000 square meters—the firm’s largest project to-date in China. The overall development totals 503,000 square meters and includes three office towers, a five-star hotel tower, an apartment tower, shopping mall, and retail stores. GP is designing all of the towers, as well as the hotel and apartment podiums and their affiliated program spaces. GP will collaborate with UK-based design firm Benoy, which developed the master plan and is designing the shopping mall and retail areas.

The Qianhai district is a special economic zone designated for an ambitious $45 billion development to transform the 15-square-kilometer area into the “Manhattan of the Pearl River Delta.” Neighborhood 2 is the most recent of three Qianhai parcels sold.

The overall design concept is one of a unified complex composed of buildings with related, yet individual exterior characteristics and facades designed with textures that differentiate them from the surrounding blue-glass buildings of Shenzhen. A metallic-painted aluminum frame with consistent spacing between verticals prioritizes internal planning flexibility for the office towers. The spacing between horizontal frame elements varies from a two-story to a four-story rhythm in order to respond individually to each office building’s height and proportions.

The commission marks GP’s latest project for China Resources Land Limited. Other assignments include the Grand Hyatt Dalian, an over 400-meter-plus mixed-use tower in Nanning, the Hotel Kapok Shenzhen Bay, and two additional towers at Shenzhen Bay.

KAMJZ Reveals Proposal for Shenzhen Bay Super City Masterplan

Quote:
KAMJZ Architects has recently revealed their competition entry with a plan that proposes a more sustainable city center through the design of a radical new typology for office towers. Read on after the break to learn more about the proposed masterplan.

The plan focuses on creating maximum usable space in the towers for people rather than competing for the title of the tallest building in the skyline. An identifiable feature in the design is the terraced form and the creation of outdoor balconies at various heights in the buildings. Outdoor terraces would provide space for retail shops and pedestrian spaces, while potentially spreading out across Shenzhen Super City. These terraces are a key component in the masterplan to allow for rainwater harvesting, solar energy, and green spaces. As these terraces are elevated from the street level, they provide shade for the spaces below and act as large public gardens.

Project: Prince Plaza

Quote:
Prince Plaza will be placed in Shekou, landscaped in the seventies industrial district which is being transformed into a multifunctional area. Should occur whether or not transformed existing buildings and new construction, with space for, among other creative businesses, shops and offices. A mixture latter two functions are also housed in the building designed by OMA, which should be in 2017. In order to limit the scale, the tower is articulated in two volumes. From this, also a number of levels 'cut', so that there are two users, and for public viewing platforms formed. The position of the view corridors is determined on the basis of the maximum height of the surrounding buildings. Furthermore, the viewing points form a frame for the mountains that lie behind it. The corridors, as well as the bridge to the freestanding portion of the low-rise, covered with a pattern inspired by the area. Last year, designed by OMA home of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange completed.

A Plant-Covered, Car-Free Design For The Megacity Of The Future

Quote:
As much as possible, all of the buildings in the design are covered with plants. "By using a traditional building fabric in most of the buildings—bricks or blocks—we have attempted to escape with the association between high-rise downtowns and glass and steel buildings, and instead provide a facade that can be more opaque, have more thermal mass, be more insulating, and support the growth of vegetation," Zaera-Polo explains.

The plant-covered skyscrapers can absorb rainfall and help reduce the urban heat island effect. They're also a new approach to what a modern skyscraper should look like.

"We have tried to turn this into an aesthetic quality of the new city, away from the conventional image of shiny and wacky skyscrapers, vying for attention," Zaera-Polo says. We would rather see the new Shenzhen mega-city in a dystopian manner, as a sort of ruin eaten by plants...beyond all the environmental performances, it will radically differentiate Shenzhen from other emerging megalopolises if they were courageous enough to adopt this aesthetic."

Though the design looks radical, it's based on existing building types, and would be easy to construct "What is special is the continuity of buildings, retrieving a certain mega-structural approach that had been abandoned for some time, but that we think can be revisited in the light of the scale of contemporary development."

It's an approach that the team thinks might work especially well now that Chinese president Xi Jingping has called for an end to "weird architecture."

Project: Two Tower by Saraiva & Associados

Quote:
From the Architects:

A unique and harmonious force, a modern and innovative approach, a building of intense character.

The essence found in this project was the result of an international competition in which Saraiva + Associados in partnership with IDU (International Design Union) and Tianhua reached the six finalists: The Two Towers in Shenzhen.

The project required the design of 2 office buildings – CBD Tower with 150 meters and Minsheng Financial Tower with 100 meters. The concept proposes the creation of a landmark that gathers and communicates the power of Principles and Social Responsibilities.

Thread Update:

1) Fixed a couple of broken links
2) Organized page 2 so it looks neater.

New Features:

1) Although I wanted to keep this strictly for documenting projects (as a compilation), I will start to include construction updates as many of these projects are underway and massive in their scope.

As with my mid rise thread, I will point out the page or post where the project info and rendering could be found, and post an update (as to not clutter this up) as I don't want any duplicates. A post per project.
