Don't know why they couldn't have started this 24 months ago as they clearly aren't tearing down the building and having a structure from scratch like many stated they were. I enjoy to say I told you so.

I think most of the $20 million is being spent on adding floors inside. Quite a bit of work has been done on the interior over the past 7 - 8 months as can be seen in this picture.

The interior is proceeding well. I found these interior pictures taken by Rob Thacker on June 14th (source: https://twitter.com/DrRob_Thacker). It looks like the large exterior windows have been installed - that should provide plenty of natural light.

Building Construction will wrap up early in the fall and then the new exhibits will be installed. Opening is currently scheduled for January.

There is an application before the Design Review Committee to approve the exterior appearance of the Discovery Centre;

The lunar and tidal elements are quite unique and will hopefully turn out great!

Somewhat related, The existing Discovery Centre was open for the last time today. They are required to vacate by end of day Sunday. I toured a few weeks ago including the old Reflections (which was temporary storage for the facade at the time), and was back briefly today. Many exhibits are being sent to another science centre in New Brunswick

Yes! Spoke with a few of the guys behind this and it's roughly twice the size IIRC

Here is the rendering showing the cladding - http://www.rediscoverscience.ca/wp-c...eb-version.png. There is also what appears to be an LED(?) screen at the far right, so I wonder if they will be able to show some videos on the exterior?
