US Counties: Median 2-Earner Family Income VS. Median Household Income, 2019

Manhattan soars to #1 when we look at median 2-earner income family income, otherwise I don't see much change, but the amounts do seem much more indicative of what the normal family has to work with as far as supporting themselves. Again, for geeks like me.

Observation: The top 19 counties in this first list are all located in either the NY Tri-State, the DC Area or the Bay Area.

Thanks for putting these together.

NJ is missing from the last last. It's among the highest income states, so should be somewhere near the top.

These lists always remind me how many poor/working poor live in expensive cities like LA and NYC as well as how relatively few poor people live in the Bay and DC.

Keep in mind this is "families," which is a smaller group than "households." It implies people in their prime earning years.

We wish. Too many pockets of the urban Bay Area look like a homeless encampment these days. Trust me, we have plenty of poor--I live in Oakland, and I can't believe the mixture of very rich and very poor literally on the same street in and around downtown and historically industrial areas. West Oakland especially, you see rich techies and crackheads like on the same sidewalk(Im not kidding), living next door to each other.

There's a ton of income disparity as well that sometimes skew overall numbers upwards.

The 1-year estimates only include data for cities with 65,000+ population, hence why we dont see places like Alpine NJ or Atherton CA on this list:
