Wrocław, Polska

Dzień dobry. The following photos encompass a brief tour of the city of Wrocław, Poland. Sadly, I'm missing the majority of the photos since I had technical issues with my computer, przepraszam. Nevertheless, I hope you find them to be of some interest.

Katyn Memorial.

Beautiful city! I wish you had more. It's weird to think that my grandfather bombed this city back in WWII.

Thank you. So do I, there were around 272 photos. Although the city was devastated in WWII, it was reconstructed quite well following the war.

I'd not heard of that before, so sad and disturbing.

I like this pic (color, building styles, depth):

Thanks for the tour (though as noted, too brief).

I certainly agree. Perhaps I'll be able to uncover some more photos in the future. The majority of the photos I had left pertained to ecclesiastical architecture, which is quite evident.

Quite true, even though it transpired in 1940 albeit the Soviets attempted to state it took place in 1941 and was committed by Nazi Germany. A few years ago, a film from Polish director Andrzej Wajda was released that deals with the Katyn tragedy entitled Katyn.

It's now available in the U.S. on dvd.

Yes, it is. Much highway construction is taking place in Poland and quite a bit of revitalization of cities that suffered under Soviet occupation.

Although not particularly evident today, SF does have some Polish history. Yet, the most evident Slavic group today is of course the city's Russian population.

Cool. Thanks for the views of Wroclaw. Never been to Poland, but it is on my must visit list. Also, amazing how Catholic of a nation Poland is. Nice church shots.
