When I googled Louise Fazenda, to see if she ever used 'Dolores Edgington' as a sort of nom de guerre,
I found out she is from Lafayette, Indiana. That's where I am!

And all along, I pictured you sitting in a sleek office building overlooking Wilshire.

A. L. Reynolds' Man-Angel No. 1

Only two photographs have been indentified (on the internet) as the man-powered, oar rowed airship, Reynolds Man-Angel.

One of the two photographs was taken at the recently discussed Fiesta Park! (piloted by Herbert Burke)

welweb.org

At far right you can see the German church*, /which we also discussed. (pretty cool huh)

Here's Hoss' map again (the tacky arrow is mine)

Lib 1909 Map posted by HossC

There's much confusion between Reynolds' Man-Angel and a second oar driven airship...the "Thomas Baldwin Air-Oared Airship".

If interested; you can real all about it HERE (amazing photographs!)

Perry Mason Friday: Residential mysteries

Mystery house 1

Mystery house 2

Mystery house 3

Three of mystery house 4--love the '56 Sunliner...the prop department seems to have been a little sloppy-- "RICK" was the character's first name...and it looks like the box may have been whitewashed to cover some lettering....

Sets and locations, cars and actors were often recycled on PM--this is 160 S June used again just a few episodes after it first appeared. (King Vidor's daughter's house)...

Boy, I thought I was clever! I felt like such a schmuck when I found out "The Farmer's Daughter" actually aired on ABC.

BTW, Happy 96th Birthday to Grauman's Egyptian Theatre.

I recall that The Carol Burnett Show referenced the Farmer's Daughter Motel on occasion and even set a sketch or two there with a photo of it as the establishing shot.

There's the Notel Motel at 47th Street and South Main Street, South Central Los Angeles. Catercorner from Holy Cross School and Church.

Decades ago, I drove past the Farmer's Daughter motel with a female co-worker.

She saw the sign and got really offended, stating that the name of the motel was highly inappropriate, and that the city should force the motel to change their name.

I'm not sure why she became so deeply offended... I guess she'd heard too many dirty "farmer's daughter" jokes in the past.

Traveling Salesman: Why are seagulls called seagulls?

Farmer's Daughter: I don't know. Why?

Traveling Salesman: Because they fly over the sea. If they flew over the bay, we would call them bagels.

It's a bit confusing at first.

Believe it or not, the nude woman (except for the mink coat) is the Della Street character!

Going by this; the dynamic between Perry and Della [played here by Roxanne Arlen] was, no doubt, intended...to be...shall I say...quite saucey.
I wonder when the decision was made to transform the Della Street character [as played by Barbara Hale] into a much more serious and respectable role.

I'm not sure people were really interested in a couple previous posts about Tarantino's recreation of 1969 Hollywood and Los Angeles spots for his film "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" but here's a couple new things.

The Earl Carroll Theatre building has been repainted as its incarnation as the Aquarius Theatre when it was used to stage the musical Hair there:

Los Angeles Theatres

They recreated Pandora's Box, but I haven't found out where they did that so far:

Los Angeles Beat

The parking lot that was located to the east of the Chinese Theatre has been recreated at 3rd and Spring Street:

Los Angeles Theatres

For many other photos of location shooting around the city, with links to other sources, see the Los Angeles Theatres page link below. It's being updated as filming progresses.

anyone familiar with Russian?

What the heck is going on outside of Ciro's in this photograph?

The site where I found the image was translating, but by the time I got to this Peggy Lee pic the translation-machine was kaput.

It says "Peggy Lee observes the work of the repairmen."

To drop names. I sort of met Peggy Lee one time. We were standing next to each other in the Lobby of the Religious Science Church waiting for Dr. Holmes to emerge from his office. This was 1959. She had arrived alone. It was just her and me.

This photo may have something to do with an extensive fire at the Nightclub in June, 1943.

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...7s#post7497273

Never found out much more about that fire than the this post.

_______

Or...not...Getty Images has this photo on their site from the Bettman archives. It says:

Peggy Lee Exiting Club with Broken Gas Main
(Original Caption) Peggy Lee (C) appearing at Ciro's Cafe on the Sunset Strip looks on as repair crew works on the broken gas main in front of the famed night club late 8/2. Flames popped up through the cracks in the pavement but caused no damage, except to the gas facilities.

They have a date for the photo of August 3, 1960.

Gas main! mystery solved.

I've never noticed this illuminated parking sign. [1955]

The shape is odd. I wonder if it slowly turned.

I think it's just a distortion or optical effect. The sign was plain and flat.
