That's Butler Park and Auditorium Shores. I like to think of them as Austin's front yard. Zilker Park west of downtown would have to be our backyard then. I wouldn't trade those spaces for anything.

Yeah, I wasn't suggesting anything be done to them. It's great to have that parkland right in the very center of the city.

As someone who lived in Austin in the mid-to-late 70s, the new skyline is VERY impressive. As a Houstonian, however, it's a little less impressive when considering the fact that of the 30 or so tall(ish) buildings built in the last 15 years, all but 4 are residential or hotel.

Austin lookin' mighty fine. I was suprised by the huge tree canopy (something we take for granted)... when I think of the immediate perimeter of Texas cities, I think of parking lots and freeways (my bad, stereotyping).

My goodness, Austin has developed so much in the blink of an eye. This has to be the biggest skyline change over the last 20 years. I'm so impressed
