Thanks for saying the same dreary thing in two separate threads. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.

I think this looks like it will be a great improvement to the area and add some new life to the Chestnut Street corridor. Hope it gets built!

I'm thinking they especially didn't want permits to lapse so they can get the full tax abatement before the end of the year. I don't know if we should necessarily expect any immediate movement when they have a year long extension, but I hope so. I'm glad to see it's alive, it just might not be imminent still despite the filings.

We don't know when this will be built but when 709 Chestnut Street and 204 S 12th Street are built it will affect the skyline in a positive way; it will fill in gaps and stretch the skyline a good deal to the east connecting the PSFS Building and Saint James Condo nicely. If we ever see Penn's Landing developed these 2 buildings will have their presence seen even more.

I walk by that lot and shed a tear regularly. This would be amazing.

Brief snippet from NakedPhilly

Quote:
We told you about a proposal for 709 Chestnut back in 2018, which called for a 27-story building to go up on a surface parking lot. This design from Erdy McHenry Architecture would bring 278 dwelling units and a modern look to this historic block. Zoning permits were issued in late 2021, so hopefully we’ll see things move on this project soon.
