Don't recall if this was posted before but I see whatever B.C. calls their transportation department is conducting a customer satisfaction survey.

Good to hear, especially with the median barrier, but I wish they would upgrade the West Shore Parkway intersection to an interchange.

If done, that would kind of compete the #1 as a freeway through greater Victoria.

I drive a lot between Abbotsford and Ashcroft and there is nothing happening except sweeping the dirt off the shoulder of the hiway...

Yup that's going to be mayhem, especially from the viewpoint down to the Radium townsite. Going to avoid that area at all costs until the work on the TCH is complete

Apparently that is going to be a roundabout.

But the drive through there is still going to suck. I think for the next four years the yellowhead will be my primary drive to the coast and interior.

Crowsnest Highway will also see more traffic in the meantime.

I imagine it will. But taking the hwy 3 route to Kelowna or Vancouver adds three hours to the drive as it stands right now, so I bet a lot still take the TCH.

The provincial government is stupid. They decided that the bypass is not needed, and is willing to give up the land set aside for over 30 years and just go with at grade traffic lights through Valleyview. Yes, they are that short sighted.

How's accommodation out that way ? Seems like there are some options.
It's pretty unpopulated out there, but there's definitely places to stay.

eg. I know these people: https://www.homathkoriver.com/
And these people: http://www.pasturetoplate.ca/kinikin...taurant-store/
And these people: http://tatlalakemotel.com/

etc.

At least they had a plan to replace the lights with interchanges. It’s doable.

My Ontarian mindset’s kicking in: If BC really wants, it can just take out the properties too close to the highway to build interchanges. It’s what it is.

“The improvements must be built with a view to safety, cost-effectiveness and as little disruption as possible to highway users and the community.”

I had assumed they would be closing it for weeks at a time, but it sounds like they will be mostly limiting the length of closures to less than 24hrs except for outside of the peak seasons.

Awesome, thanks! That is a pretty good looking design overall.

If the Federal government was smart (.....) they would plan to do significant upgrades to the two-lane sections in Yoho National Park during the same periods of lane closure. At the very least, they could complete a lot of the preparatory work required to finish 4-laning to the border.

The Sea to Sky, which cost 600 million to rebuild, costs the same as this 4 km section. WTF? The Sea to Sky rebuild isn't even 10 years old.
