Plan for major development near Charlottetown Mall going to public consultation

WONDERFUL, Public consultation!!! I can hear the NIMBYS now! I bet we won't see a start, albeit reduced considerably in size, in about 5-10years.

Does every development project have to have a public consultation?

I think it only goes to Public Consultation when there is a rezoning request.

I have to say the picture of the proposal is pretty ugly. Who wants to look at a "commons" area filled with 180+ vehicles ?

A sea of asphalt & cars. Too bad there wasn't underground parking. They could create a really nice green space instead of a parking lot.

Two ten storey buildings would free up a lot of space for a green zone instead of this 5 storey design.

Stratford town council says NO to proposed subdivision

Looks like this prime location for housing will remain a field. What a waste!
Ever notice, as soon as the apartments get close to the homeowners how the
NIMBYS come out of the woodwork! It is getting tight in Stratford due to the fast population
growth. Let the s**t show begin!!!

---------------------------------

CBC PEI

The first reading to rezone the area from low-density residential to a planned-unit residential development zone
was voted down four to two at the town's monthly meeting Wednesday........

Is five storey wood construction legal on Prince Edward Island or do you figure these will have concrete podiums with four storeys of wood framing on top?

Tower Rd Mall Apartments

I hope they have a good sprinkler system in this apartment. Being 4 floors it would be required for code. Still!!

Charlottetown’s building code bylaw follows Canada Building Code 2015, which permits six floors of wood construction.

'STOP THE KILLIAM PEI' FACEBOOK PAGE

A facebook page and web page have been setup by a group of NIMBYS against the Haviland project which is headed mostly by a former so-called city planner and his family members and by followers (97) with most who don't even live here.
Their attempt is mostly falling on deaf ears. The Killam/APM project has total as-of-right to this vacant lot.
One point made by one person fighting against them is this anti-Killam group is impacting businesses in this tourist-lacking-Covid age. The influx of new people to live downtown will benefit them greatly. It's any wonder they don't get sued as it was pointed out!

MORE ON FACEBOOK AT > STOP KILLAM PEI (just type this in the search bar) ****Time to have your say folks!****

BTW, the post on the "fire hazard" is particularly a good read! Especially the part about the renters hanging their clothes from the sprinklers. Yes, this is what we are dealing with folks!! NIMBYS at their best!!!

Losers for sure. But I do wish Tim Bank would bring a design to the table that addresses that terrible parking structure. The base of the building pretty ugly.
