18-storey, 3.84 hectare Lakeside Village Plaza proposal receives icy reception from councillors
NEWS Apr 13, 2019 by Roland Cilliers

The message from politicians was loud and united.

A proposed development for the Lakeside Village Plaza lands at Burlington’s 5353 Lakeshore Rd. is not welcome as it is currently planned. Close to 100 messages and a handful of presenters were received at the April 9 planning and development committee public meeting on the development, which would add 900 residential units to the site.

Mayor Marianne Meed Ward was firm in her criticism of the plan, labelling it as overdevelopment.

“The number of units and the height of the building is excessive, and it does represent overdevelopment, and that needs to be reduced. The amenity area for those residents needs to be increased, and we’ve heard about the parking when you reduce the number of units the parking sometimes fixes itself,” said Meed Ward.

Why are suburban co do development plans always ass. Look at all that surface parking, and no connection to the street. Why even bother with those sidewalks?
