I'm not a fan of the glass so far. Way too transparent. When people move in it will look like a mess of roller shades at different heights.
I like that look! If the landlord provides the shades/blinds for a consistent appearance. Prairie Shores looks like this. It adds some nice randomness that counteracts the monolithic look.
^ Ditto, the randomness of the shade pulls adds interesting texture and variety. The higher contrast blinds + lighter neutrally colored glass is like the day time equivalent of when random units have lights on at night.
Funny that this kind of gets overlooked a lot. Particularly in apartment buildings where the shades are effectively uniform throughout and look to be very much part of the consideration in terms or how the overall facade looks.
Looking at a building like Catalyst the blinds are a just shade step or two different but is still noticeable. The combo there does an interesting job of reinforcing the contrast between the dark glass and lighter spandrel glass. Conversely, Essex appears to use the blinds to bring the effect closer to the spandrel glass color (making the relatively high contrast between the two—some here didn't like—kind of moot).
Barricades and fencing are up around the lot now too, more robust than just the typical chain link only kind.
Wouldn't be surprised if demo happens very soon

Thanks Harry, believe it or not that was from Desplaines. The Jewel Osco parking lot was throwing a lot of ambient light and it was way too cold for me to walk out of my way to try and find a better angle haha.
I saw that in Curbed. It is a big improvement over the previous iteration. The earlier renderings looked to be more placeholder than actual final design, though.
This will hopefully sail through the various approval processes.

I think this one has enough other projections to cast shadows, create close reflections (that are usually less distorted), and create a foreground element that is more prominent than the glass to counteract the effect of the glass reflections. I've noticed that it becomes most problematic when the building is primarily glass, all in one plane, and with only the slab cladding to provide any other visual effect.
