2021 Project Starts?

So, 2020 was an incredibly slow year for major project starts in downtown Vancouver, although several more proposals were added to the pile.

Just wondering what (if any?) major towers / projects we are likely to see proceed to sales / construction this year in downtown Vancouver, and elsewhere in Metro Vancouver.

I know some on this forum must have some inside knowledge / good hunches.

Yes you will see some projects break ground this year, stuff already on the books will proceed although cautiously. There is still active demand for residential and carrying costs eat up profit margins. Not sure we will see a lot of redevelopable properties snatched up even with interest rates at historic lows. Think we will continue to see existing owners submit new purposes as well to drive up the value of their properties and potential flip them after the 3yr process if successful and if the market has improved.

I would bet that Bosa’s 1515 will break ground or at least start demo this year. As well as 1075 Nelson and maybe 601 Beach Crescent

Thanks for the info jlousa, fingers crossed.

Yeah, those are three projects that I would definitely like to see move forward, especially 1075 Nelson.

I guess it depends what you consider "major". We should have 2 Skytrain lines breaking ground this year, along with the new St. Paul's.

The question in this thread is for tower projects.
