Is the lot just the parking lot or does it include Westy's?

Isn’t that where Hanover North Broad is? Or is this a block south?

A block west, it's basically the SW corner of 15th and Callowhill.

Construction at the corner of 15th and South?

There is a soil testing truck boring soil samples on a lot at the corner of 15th and South Streets in Center City. This is a fairly large parking lot at present.

Does anyone know anything about this site and any potential building projects here?

Thanks.

I'm going to go ahead and be that asshole:

Someone spilled the beans to me about what's going there, but I can't talk about it. This activity tells me it'll be public soon enough.

I'm guessing some sort of 4-5 story mixed-use development?

Hmm, that lot is huge and the northeastern part extends past Naudain St; that latter portion abuts the rear of the historically-designated Health Center #1. I forget, did the City select a developer yet for the Health Center?* I could imagine someone controlling both properties and doing a unity-of-use maneuver to gain more height.

And then there's the former World Communications Charter School at the Broad & South corner, which Goldenberg Group bought a few years ago…

PIDC had put out a RFQ for the Health Center 2 years ago:
RFQ issued for midcentury modern health center on Broad Street | Curbed.com

Hmm, rumor late last year had Goldenberg as one of two finalists subsequently invited to submit an RFP:
The city’s Health Center One building on South Broad has a historic designation. But...why? | PhiladelphiaWeekly.com

Man, have I been away from the Philly scene for a while. So much new developments and proposals taking form.

On that MLB tower proposal, too bad they couldn't have added another 10 stories or so to that given its location. I always thought it's kinda of odd to see a gap between the PECO building and the Milano.

^^^
Kinda reminds of Eastern Town in Chinatown or whatever the recent name change is with the big blank wall and the rectangular design. Hope it is just a promo mock up.

Yea, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that that's a very crude early mockup.

Re: South and 15th

I'm gonna call it now and say that it's a mixed use building about 7-8 stories tall. This is for no reason other than its extreme proximity to a subway stop.

New tower proposed for 12/Sansom, specifically a luxury senior rental building.

24 Stories
300 units
84 underground parking spaces

Rendering is too crude to be able to comment on the design at this moment.

East of Broad is really gaining traction in terms of adding density and height. The skyline is definitely scaling at a healthy clip.

I thought about making a thread but I agree that the renderings are too crude. However, this rendering of just the base that Summers posted the other day looks great:

That's cool. I'm just glad the lot will be developed.

Potential hotel highrise in the Stadium Complex

A new look for stadium district office tower

Quote:
The $80 million office development is a collaboration between Cordish Companies, a Baltimore-based real estate company, and Comcast Spectacor, the entertainment wing of Comcast.

The project is part of an ongoing collaboration between Cordish Companies and Comcast Spectacor. The two corporations also collaborated on the neighboring Xfinity Live complex, that opened in 2012.

Between Pattison Place and Xfinity Live, the companies plan to install a large fountain and a hotel complex.

Two new potential highrises

Sonder adds two more Center City buildings to its portfolio

Quote:
Sonder, a San Francisco company that is taking on Airbnb and traditional hotels, has leased two more buildings in Center City, bringing the total number of rental units it controls in Philadelphia to nearly 1,000.

The company has added 1620 Sansom St., where it will have 207 units, and 1101 Walnut St., where it will have 111 units, to its growing Center City portfolio. The building at 1101 Walnut is where a Wendy's fast food restaurant operated for years and was recently bought by Abrams Realty Development, which has plans to raze the structure, according to an April report in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

1620 Sansom is a garage, does that mean something will be built there?

Has to be unless Natalie had the address wrong. I think it's more likely that the address is right and a tower is in the works. I wish she would have something about the demo and build like she did for the Wendy's address, but we should hear more soon.

Bayer among financial backers of startup Century Therapeutics’ cell-based immunotherapy platform
https://www.healio.com/hematology-on...erapy-platform

Quote:
Bayer has invested $215 million in Century Therapeutics, a biotech startup looking to break into the oncology cell therapy market with a platform based on allogeneic induced pluripotent stem cells.

Century Therapeutics was created by the investment firm Versant Ventures and has secured $250 million in total initial funding. The firm has partnered with Fujifilm Cellular Dynamics (FCDI) to license the induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) immune effector cell platform that will underlie Century’s investigational oncology therapies.
...
Flores said the company’s first research scientists came on board in January and, so far, they have hired 25 researchers based at their headquarters in Philadelphia.
Century has 54 open jobs available, all in Philly. Their address is the new 3675 Market building.

I'd love to see someone who is infinitely more talented than I create an updated Philly skyline image with all the under construction and proposed towers in the pipe. I'm pretty good at drawing dinosaurs though.
