This has been bugging me the last couple of days -- I keep thinking I remember that on some of the early renders, it DID have sort of a brim. Like a circular thing around the bottom of the crown. Does anyone else remember that? It's been so long and I can't find anything about it, perhaps I'm misremembering...

I vaguely remember seeing some joke renderings showing the tower with a cowboy hat. But I didn't find them with a quick Google search.

Yeah, I really liked that ring around it. It gave it a feel similar to the Capella Tower in Minneapolis or Westendstraße 1 in Frankfurt, Germany.

They were obviously still working on it. Notice the box above the crown that isn't there now.

By the way, if anyone is ever wondering about some old rendering or project, I have literally hundreds and hundreds of renderings that I've saved over the years. I have some uploaded to Facebook that I post here from time to time, but there are no doubt many more that I haven't uploaded. Some I feel kind of funny about uploading with copyright issues, but generally, if they accompanied public documents through the city, I don't worry as much. I really should get a thread going to create an archive.

Yay! The first permit of 2019 for this project was filed today. It's related to excavation and utilities.

I wouldn't go that far yet. But we have had two positive signs of progress.

Yes, but I'm a little nervous about the fact that the site plan has been inactive since last December. That length of time implies (or maybe I'm just inferring) that some changes are afoot. But in the past week or so we have had news about the hotel apparently closing on July 21st and an excavation permit filing. I suspect that means Lincoln is confident that the site is close to being approved.

Our booms used to happen every 4-6 years. Now they happen every 4-6 months. I'm ok with that

The outdoor spaces on this building are incredible. I remember reading it will have close to an acre of outdoor spaces, 42,000+ feet from what the article said. That's incredible. That glass roof awning also gives them a large space outside for even while it's raining, and even it looks like a large space.

This will put us up there with, and even arguably above Minneapolis, Charlotte, and Denver as far as skylines go.

It’s not a stretch to say we’ll be as iconic as any other city our size with what’s in the pipeline.
