I think I heard that they're knocking that down to open up the area from the market entrance over to the food court. I think there's more to the plan than just that, but I'm not sure what.

Thanks, I hope you're right. That's got to be the most depressed area of the mall right there.

Looks like there's work happening at the Camco building, new big pile of bricks with a tracker parked beside the building and a new hole on the side of the building.

Those stores are still in the mall but they've been moved to different locations.

It also looks like the new Shawarma shop (I 4get it's name) on John @ Jackson is set to open soon too.
My favourite thing about this shop is that it has a theme... it's not just another hole-in-the-wall Shawarma like most downtown. Sad thing is, most of the "holes" have the best food... they just look so damn shady!

Hey rth, is The Downtown Update making a return anytime soon on raisethehammer.org? I miss it

ok...so, not a rumour, but what are the odds that IF Trump Toronto does well, that perhaps we could get him to the Hammer to do a condo??

http://www.trumptowerpa.com/

Philly's getting one now.
Actually, if you look around America, it seems every city is getting one.
Either he's desperate or bored...or both.
Anyhow. Probably never happen in our lifetime, but hey, it's neat to think about.

^^ If only, eh rth

I don't think it's a possibility in Hamilton.
All he needs to do is look at the current condo market (in Hamilton) and the perceived troubles they are having. ie: Chateau Royale.

I think Trump would be better off to buy a mid-rise in the central-east end somewhere and rent it off. At least he'd be guaranteed make money that way.

Very, very low. Toronto had to jump through hoops to get his attention, Hamilton has no chance in hell of it.

true enough...plus, he almost cancelled TO, and has scaled it back quite a bit.
Still, it's fun to dream.
Maybe Stinson will come to town a do a new tallest.

Stinson won't be developing anything any time soon. His finances are drained to and his reputation is severly tainted after the debacle surrounding his questionable sales/management activities at 1 King West in Toronto. I certaintly wouldn't be in a rush to enter any business transaction with him.

This tower is not being designed, built or bankrolled by the Trump organization. It's being done by a Canadian Billionaire named Schrader. He is paying Trump a licence fee for the honor of slapping his name on it. We all know Toronto desperately needs something American for validation as a city.

rumour is that downtown dundas will be getting a "bark and fitz." as i stated in my montreal tour this is a sure sign of trendiness and affluence, but it's also a sign that we've completely lost our collective minds! i love dogs, i really and truly do, but these sorts of stores are soooooo lame. anyway, i think it's a good thing, if not just a little silly.

hahaha There's a poshy-posh dog store on Yonge St in the Summerhill neighbourhood in TO. It's right by the old North Toronto train Stn which has been converted into the nicest LCBO I have EVER seen!!!
But the prices are rediculous... it seems like something that Dundas could support, but mostly b/c of the Ancasterians coming down the hill.
