Nice, the ocean looks so beautiful, I wish I could have been at the beach this weekend. I did go into city of Manhattan Beach but only to pick up some food from Flemings for my mother in-law. We left the valley and it was in the mid 90’s and in MB the temperature was a cool 71. I also see you past the In N Out I used to frequent when I lived down in Long Beach.

Thanks! And that is indeed the Seal Beach pier. I initially was not going to include any pictures of places outside of LA County, but I figure Seal Beach borders LA County/Long Beach, and you can even see Signal Hill and the San Gabriels from Seal Beach so why not? Plus, Seal Beach reminds me of my youth, being that I was a student at Cal State Long Beach and sometimes between long periods between classes, I would hang out at Seal Beach.

I don't mind that Ruby's Diner is now gone; I'm sure you know that the building itself burned down some years ago, and it's nice that they finally fixed the pier's appearance and you can't tell that there ever was a fire there.

Yes; that's why we went to the beach because it was much cooler than in South Pasadena. And yes, when I was a CSULB student, that particular In-N-Out was the one I would often go to; there was another one by the traffic circle, but for some reason I preferred this one; plus this location was near the United Artists Theaters which I would go to occasionally.

Donut run tonight! Reading that thread where someone brought up donuts in LA made me want donuts. I don't have them often, either.

So I went out and got one donut---an ube cake donut. It's the Pinoy in me I guess. . My partner got one too.

Random photos, taken today, Thursday, 9.16.2021.

Tag along with me to dinner out!

Didn't eat here, just walked by it. In fact, I have yet to eat here.

Riesling, to go with seafood.

A handroll flight. Amberjack, salmon, and Maryland blue crab handroll flight. It tasted good, but this wasn't a Japanese place, so the nori wasn't like what you'd get at an authentic Japanese place.

Branzino and salad. Yum...

I check this thread from time to time, but haven't ever felt inspired to comment until I saw the boob fountain in this round of updates.

Boob fountain. Seriously.

In all seriousness though, your photos are always lovely. Thanks for sharing them.

I'll probably get around to trying that place eventually; when it first went in (which I realize must've been more than 5 years ago?), it seemed to be a really big deal, with lines going down the block. I read that it was their very first location in the whole US outside of Japan.

Thanks!

The bookstore is called The Last Bookstore, and it's at 5th and Spring. It's a pretty cool bookstore. If you do go, be sure to explore upstairs as well. And if you go on a Sunday, you'll also encounter the farmers market right outside on the street.

Right? Yeah, often when a building can't or chooses not to verbally communicate something, and instead expects you to read their mind or initiate a conversation simply because they sighed or something, often means they're passive-aggressive. It's very frustrating working with passive-aggressive buildings. I used to have a boss that was that way.
