That's so lame. When cities like London, Kitchener, and others are using interlocking brick and places like Europe use it everywhere (Like the Netherlands uses it even in random suburbs) Hamilton yet again chooses to be cheap. Hamilton is like the McDonalds version of a city. Cheap, quick, easy, but not good for you and not really that good tasting. All to cut costs and do what the screaming patrons desire.

The south arm of King along Gore Park was cobblestone back in the late 1980s and '90s. But the park was lined with bus stops, so the road got damaged very quickly and the city was constantly repairing the ruts and heaved stone.

On a lightly used street (hopefully restricted to pedestrian use some day, or woonerf-ed) that should not be a problem!

But a treatment like that of King William would be a decent alternative.

Hopefully there's more to come in the area. Lots of parking lots to fill.

I'm assuming the crew will be pouring the roof slab today/tomorrow. I'm still amazed by how fast this one went up. Looking forward to seeing the other two break ground likely this fall/winter.

Talking to Steve it seems they want to get started asap, and the parking garage will be connected, so the sooner that is finished the better this development will be for renting out.

We just chat back and forth on Instagram occasionally, nothing personal really, just a shared interested in good buildings, heritage and human scaled development. Looking back at my messages, he said they plan to break ground when the weather clears hopefully March 2022.

I wonder what The Pheasant Plucker is going to do for patio space once the building to the east gets built. Would love to see them somehow do a rooftop patio, but I doubt the building is designed for that type of thing. Would be nice to see Core Urban at least allow them to rent some patio space in front of the new buildings at a discounted rate or something.

Perhaps they can do one of those temporary decks along Augusta, either for seating or to replace sidewalk used as the patio. I'd hope CU or whoever ends up managing the new builds would let them make it longer across their properties.

Ideally I'd love to see that block closed to vehicles. Or at least the eastern half of it. Let the pubs have part of the street.

The street should just be a pedestrian zone and closed between James and Hughson. This would eradicate the problem.

Is not the underground parking for this build exit out onto Augusta? Maybe not too late to connect it into the underground parking of phase 2 and 3 with in/out on Hughson

Just a little further down the road from the developments, sadly the Cat'n'Fiddle is closing after 28 years. Reading the article reveals the building will be for sale. I've always loved this building and atmosphere. Pretty big loss to John St & the anchor of Augusta.
