[Burlington] Brant & Fairview | ?m | 12 fl | Proposed

source

Quote:
Brant & Fairview is a high-rise residential development project in Burlington, Ontario. The amalgamated site permits the development of a high-rise building in a known “intensification zone” – a government-designated area within 800m of a commuter railroad station – that was recently granted special high-rise status.

The project is situated on the south-east corner of Brant Street and Fairview Street along a rapidly transforming corridor in Burlington. Phase One commenced in Q3 2017 with the acquisition of the adjacent properties and will complete with site plan approval for a high-rise residential development.

A collaboration between award-winning architects and interior designers yielded an initial design that was well received by the local government and the community. The project’s unique, eye-catching exterior will bring a new and modern look to Burlington’s developing core.

Oh mama!

This will likely be approved as it is within the allowable heights, if not below the suggested height for this property. This is exactly the area Burlington wants and needs development height.

If only something this cool could come to Hamilton. One day maybe, one day.

Don't hold your breath. City Hall has chosen to allow the NIMBY's to run the show.
We had a cool, modern proposal on Upper James and once the NIMBY's and their councillors were done with it, it's a disgusting 1980's 8-storey box.
Check the new thread from Grimsby....the cool stuff has bypassed us and is moving onto the next town that has radically re-written it's zoning bylaws in favour of height and mixed-use density.

What Grimsby is doing is amazing. No boarded-up, low retail in the downtown strip. Ask me to go to either Gore Park or downtown Grimsby. The answer is easy. It is just a good place to live and work. My brief time at NRB was really an eye opener. The NRB family runs that city.

Hamilton needs to develop the QEW strip. Forget the swamp. I love trains but you know the railyards make it impossible. And there doesn't seem anything will be done. Bratina wanted the rail yards moved towards Grimsby. the real waterfront should be Lake Ontario.

Start by raking the beaches of needles and beer glass. Ever go to Beachway Park in Burlington then cross the lift bridge to Hamilton. Disgusting difference. It's a metaphor for sure. I used to cycle that route down the rail trail from Up Kenilworth. Hamilton at one time had an amusement park there and I remember Bison and camping grounds. But don't worry Hamilton is turning that corner. it's going through a renaissance.

too late for us. We just rezoned our lakeshore area in Stoney Creek for more townhouse and low rise crap. Thankfully Grimsby looks to have taken it's lessons from Burlington and Toronto, not Hamilton.

It had to be designed to “compliment” the “prevailing character” of the “neighbourhood”.

What neighbourhood? This is on a main street, with no nearby "neighborhood" plus it looks like a crappy Disneyland fake building. It looks like a seniors residence....
