Ystad - Sketchup City

In this alternate timeline, the obscure harbour town of Ystad transforms itself into a turn-of-the-century powerhouse and later a modern city of the world. Situated at the southernmost point of Sweden, commerce from Scandinavia and Balticum flows through this hub.

This is the real map of Ystad, traced and with broadened roads. There is more around, but it didn't exist in the 19th century, so I'll fill it up when I need more space.

The first building! This is the city hall/courthouse. I'm hoping I can keep all the buildings on this level of detail.

The courthouse side of the building.

Well you sure do have some skill. I highly admire that building and look foward to see what is next to come.

Yeah, great job. But really I doubt you will be able to keep the details. Sketchup will start running slow and yeah. Ask Peter. His computer seems to take a while to just rotate around.

That's a nice building. Very European. Reminded me of WWI when I first saw it. But that's because we're studying WWI. Anyways, great building again. The only thing you'll need to fix is the layout. It's very kjgbhkjrg. Good for small low/mid-rises but not good for tall skyscrapers.

Awesome street layout! It's definately European, as there is no simple grid pattern, which means this city is old and has a lot of history.

The city hall is breathtaking, and I hope you continue to make all the buildings that detailed, but Aleks is correct when he says it will run slow, because it will. But don't let that prevent you from making future buildings detailed. Make it how you want, keep it up, and I look forward to more!

The render in Kerk only took a little while, thankfully. I'm guessing the problem will be opening the actual SU file...but that's in the future! The street layout stays, it's way too fun for me to look at a real-life building, thinking "What will I put there?"

The City Hall - Courthpouse looks like a victorian silo crossed with an Arst and Crafts cathedral. Very 1890s.
Fantastic, this is the first European City (located in europe as well as made by a European i mean).
Is this south of Malmo in the Kategatt?
I really hope you can keep up the detail! Good Job

Today, the Bank Palace.

This proto-scraper stands back to back with a rather bland 18th century apartment building. The "smart tree" by Angry Kangaroo turned out very nice IMO.

The architect was inspired by the exotic "Amerikat"(as it was called back then)

...and here's a bonus pic of the real Ystad. It lies smack in the middle of Sweden's southern coast.

Sure. Where the Bank Palace now stands used to be a small grass lot. The apartments were reconfigured and the window-less space is now used as storage space for the Palace.

The corner apartments would be the best ones.

I've virtually finished a 1980's scraper, which looks a bit out of place without a skyline, but Kerkythea is acting up. I'm working on it.

Here's the finished scraper. Just under 145 meters(475 feet). Lans Pharmaceuticals agreed to construct a new public library on the bottom floors in exchange for the very sought-after lot.

The library occupies the first five floors, except for the Lans lobby.

Ystad!? I thought I misread the title at first.

For those who don't know - Ystad is a small town east of Malmö (not really a suburb though) on the south coast of Scania, the southernmost province in Sweden.

Awesome models, huggkruka!

Very nice and different design. It's like a bunch of skyscrapers in one. I also like how you did some interior detail to bring out the realism. Overall, very well done. This city is certainly coming along well.

Yeah, looks great. You have good modeling skills. I don't like that circle in thelobby entrance though. Just not appealing to me.
