Hall's Creek flows through there, and this area can be prone to inundation during flooding events, so development here might be tricky without significant infill and modification, which probably would not be allowed under provincial regulations.

It would seem a natural location for something to be built, perhaps even a grocery store.
This would make sense if the neighbourhood was walkable or if Mountain Road was redesigned so that crossing and pesdestrianization was made easier. Given the number of parking spaces for these developments it's likely residents can just drive to wherever they can get groceries instead.

A drug store and some restaurants to fill in the rest of the mini-mall complex there would probably work well too.

Didn’t Sobeys own the land next to home hardware and then sell it?

Also I would think that behind the Petro-Can would be a larger area to accommodate a new retail node. Obviously on either side of Home Hardware there is also space for retail, but I think a Sobeys, Shoppers and perhaps a Dollarama would be able to fit into the space behind Petro-Can and IHOP.

Signage is now up for Off the Wall Eyewear Emporium in the lounsbury Centre.

Photo from the Off the Wall FB page.

This will be their second location (other location on Elmwood Drive). If I am not mistaken, this now gives the Lounsbury Centre 100% occupancy - a rare feat these days.

I was there today getting my doggie all trimmed up and somewhat less stinky and a crew were installing the signage for a new vape shop as well. Sorry, I do not remember the name.
But anyway as you have noted, things appear fully booked up at the ol' Lounsbury Centre.

Per the retail talk group on FB, the Planet fitness sign is going up today.
They also have membership info and layout on their website for Moncton https://www.planetfitness.ca/gyms/moncton-nb

Crandall University is apparently adding a new degree program for the academic year beginning in September 2021 - a BA in Kinesiology.

I think there is something afoot in the old Big Fish location at Valhalla Place. There is scaffolding on the inside, and there is drywall piled on the floor on the inside. I don't know if this is renovations for a specific new tenant or not, but we will keep an eye on this.

After some sleuthing, I discovered that Archway Insurance is moving from its current (small) location in this plaza to the larger (former) Big Fish location. They may also be consolidating with their other operation in Dieppe.

Apollo to buy major casino owner Great Canadian Gaming in $2.5 billion deal
Apollo said 'certain Canadian institutions' might co-invest in the deal

Great Canadian Gaming of course operates casinos in both NB & NS. This adds a bit of uncertainty to the future of Casino NB, but personally, I am hopeful that this might actually be good for the long term success of the casino. At the very least, being operated by this large American player, we might see higher quality acts coming to the Molson Canadian Centre at the casino complex once the pandemic is over.

I would expect a press release from the casino in the next day or 2. They are proceeding to further open up as of December 1. Limited pub and alcoholic beverage services with be opening.

They put up the fourth floor at 2265 Mountain road this week. I've never seen a big building go up so fast.

I'm up for that.
It is worth pointing out however that it isn't the casino, but promoters, who book acts at the Centre. At least this was the case for the first several years of operation. This might have changed in more recent years.

It’s a combination. A lot are promoters but the casino does bring in some itself.

I believe the annual New Years Eve shows were generally promoted by the Casino and not by Live Nation or another promoter. That’s one example of how the new ownership could bring in some bigger acts. Those shows generally we’re sold out.

NYE is normally put on by the casino itself. Plus some of the other ones. If it’s one they are promoting they will give employees a chance to win tickets, outside promoted shows they don’t.
