Awesome, one more 800+ footer for Chicago, assuming there won't be any unpleasant surprise in the next couple years.

it's a little hard to believe 1000M is really going U/C after more than four years of waiting.

when i first joined this forum 20 years ago, most of the towers pictured below didn't exist.

what a transformation! this view all on its own would be a MAJOR skyline in 90% of the US.

dang, I really liked the original Waterview. It would have been so nice.

Hoping this has a better fate.

Financing has been secured from Goldman Sachs and reported on last week. I wouldn't be surprised if this topped out in two years and forumers were still doubtful.

SD- That photo is missing The Paragon. Three completed high-rises so far. Maybe five if NEMA2 gets built.

No drill bit on that rig.

I'm sorry for being persnickety, but has an actual caisson been drilled?

Any concrete trucks?

As of 1 PM today, no. Still in site prep per SSP convention.

I'm not convinced at all. It could top out in 2022 and I still would not be convinced. It could be a like a Chinese ghost building....

Even if its filled to capacity I still will not be convinced it is a real building.

It would still be a fake studio prop building with simulated people living and screwing in it.

Pretty sure I spotted the base of a crane this morning while riding the train.

I suppose this convention was superseded by this news article titled "Construction begins on Helmut Jahn’s 74-story tower that will alter the skyline": https://chicago.curbed.com/2019/10/2...groundbreaking

When judging things sky-scrapery this forum is a source of authority, Curbed is not.

^^SSP convention dictates that bananas shall remain idle until actual caisson drilling has commenced. I thought I saw holes Monday night but that report appears to have been inaccurate. I redact my previous bananas but will instruct them to stretch their legs for imminent dancing.

While we're a long ways away from seeing the base of a tower crane, it looks like they erected the crawler crane yesterday, which is essential to caisson sleeve/rebar installation. Another step in the right direction.
