Though I'm really not much of a clubber (more of a bar/pub person) I love the look of all those places and am actually pretty tempted to check them out. They're way more interesting looking than the big generic places on Granville (which I usually end up going to every once-in-a-while for other people's birthdays).

147 E Pender, Chinatown.
thx

Modern is where the tiwlight zone used to be isn't it? I miss that club sometimes and their wednesday nights

^ I have to say, Gorgomish is one the nicest afterhours club i've ever been to. They also have a Phazon sound system
which is regarded as the best sound system in the world (it costs about $48K). it really is the most amazing sound i have ever heard in a club.

Wow guys, really great pictures. I love this new thread.

I jus moved down here to Vancouver about 2 month ago and havent hit up any clubs yet. I was starting to think there was no nightlife in this freakin city!!! Also the fact that im pretty new to the city and havent really made any good fun friends to go clubbing or show me around me around this great city. Haha, but man those pictures look great. Tunnel and Modern look amazing. Fortune looks great as well. Its literaly 2 blocks away from my place....I would love to go. We forum ppl should get together and maybe hit something up! Im open to it. It would be a great way to make some friends in the new city.

Fortune used to be called Royal Unicorn. Royal Unicorn was kind of a hipster place and it was pretty fun and nice and divey. Almost felt like I was inside of a community centre rec hall or something! Now Fortune is quite posh from the looks of the pictures but not my type of place at all. A co-worker of mine went a while ago and spotted Jay-z in there after his show...I see line ups outside every time I go by the place on the weekends.

I didn't even know half those clubs existed! I'm starting to think Vancouver's lack of nightlife is more of a perception rather than reality.

The Straight.com has a pretty comprehensive list of clubs/lounges in the city:

boss used to be mars - i used to love the lighting at mars - the whole lighting structure would move it was pretty cool

nightlife is pretty low key and you gotta sorta get into the right circle to get around sometimes

it seems like there is one interior designer for all those bars - similiar vibe going on in most of them

They all look so great and diffent. I dont find they look very much the same. Clubs will always have the long bar and flat screens and lightingchandaliers everywhere.

So what do you say? Fortune Sound Club tonight anyone? or Tunnel!? Man i really want to have a blast and drink!

Yeah I had some wild, crazy nights at the Unicorn. I thought that location looked familiar.

Let's not forget all the "scuzzy" places where you can meet some really nice people:
- The Cambie
- The Bourbon
- Lamplighter (a bit more upscale)

To name a few...

I'm not a big fan of all the "posh" places...not because of the appearence/decor, but due to the stuck up people. A great example of this is the Modern (unless things have changed recently).

Club 23 is where I go on Saturdays when it's not the fetish night. Right smack dab in the DTES! At least they fenced off that area along Cordova where the homeless used to camp nearby. When it rains though, that club needs like 10 buckets to catch all the dripping water! I love dive clubs/bars...

speaking of dives, one of my favorites is Lotus (abbott & pender). it's the place to go to hear underground club/electronica. some crazy nights there!

no website. search clubzone.com for upcoming dj's

Honey Lounge (above Lotus) also has a dancefloor but it's a bit more chilled. they have live music Wed. & Thursday nights.

and if your so inclined, Lick (lesbian lounge) is also there.

I love the music they play on Fridays at Honey (Mod night) but it's way too packed and full of people way younger than I so I rarely go. I'm not sure I'd call it a dive though, especially when they charge like 8 bucks to get in.

I went to Funky Winkerbean Pub a few times and on Saturdays it starts out with live music then an impromptu dance floor happens. The crowd there is always an interesting mix of hipsters, local blue collar longtime patrons, people who look like they came in from Granville Street and whomever else happens to stumble on by.
