Northeast Corridor trains kick up snow

Sunday, after blizzard one but before blizzard two to come on Tuesday. Taken at Croydon station (about halfway between 30th Street and Trenton) in about 15 minutes while i waited for a ride to show up. Amtrak Trains blow through here at 100-120 miles per hour.

Real proud of these last two:

Anyways, I noticed the pattern rails make in the snow and I was entranced. I keep thinking I ought to get shots of snowy equipment but unfortunately I let it all defrost on me.

This was on Tuesday, before Wednesday's blizzard.

I was hoping to get some equipment movement along the Royal Blue line, but nooooo...darn CSX...

Stunning shots, LITZ! I like the tunnel-like effect of the catenary supports in the tele shots, and the light in the last photo is dramatic.

I want to get up to Northwest Indiana and shoot the South Shore electrics at speed in fresh snow, but it's a 120-mile drive and when the snow is fresh and powdery, the last half of the drive can be over roads that are very treacherous. I envy you for your location!

These are several years old, but I don't think I've posted them before:

Excellent find; thanks for posting those!

The Cushman Collection resides at Indiana University, though. Indiana University is headquartered in Bloomington, Indiana and shares regional campuses across the state with Purdue University.

The University of Indiana is located in Indiana, Pennsylvania.

Edit: The green '56 Ford under the overpass looks identical to the one I bought in 1960, a Customline 4-door with a small V-8 and stick. It was a great car, peppy, responsive, and reasonably economical, and I loved it. Like the song says, though, "You always hurt the one you love." I beat that car for five years and wrecked it badly once. I still have a slight assymetry to my nose and upper jaw from where I tried to eat the steering wheel (no seat belts or air bags then). I bought a Jeep Wagoneer in '65 and sold the Ford to a guy who blew the engine the second day he had it, trying to see how fast it would go in second gear.
