A former downtown winnipegger now saskatoonian here - I just want to say how jealous I am of this facility - this will be bringing in some seriously high energy and ambitious individuals that will definitely lighten up the downtown. I just met with someone who managed a similar facility in Minneapolis/St. Paul and it’s amazing what these innovation centres can do for your downtown. Beautiful building too!

^ We're lucky it ended up downtown... I think the path of least resistance would have been to put it up at the U of M Smartpark or wherever. Good on Richardson for putting it where they did.

Yeah they're starting to have quite the little campus there. Wonder if they have anything else in the cards? Perhaps they'd like to try their hand at property development on one of their surface lots.

I agree. IMO the Richardsons have more than proven their support of the city and it's institutions over the years, and this is another fine example.

I walked past it yesterday, and one of the large Tyndall stone panels was up at the lower northeast corner.

It’s impressive considering that’s probably the most undesirable land in all of downtown.

BRING BACK BOND TOWER.

TV, could you give us some insight into the reasoning for the heavily frosted windows? I think it looks cool, even though it seems way more opaque IRL compared to the renderings. Just interested in what the need was.

^ I think they windows look like that from an angle, but from what I remember, when you look at them straight on (from the interior), they are more or less transparent. Tinted, but transparent.

Judging from that last photo, they still look pretty opaque from the inside other than the very centre.

I've seen renders of bond tower, but I never knew what it was about, was it actually proposed or was it just a fantasy project from 546?
