TOTAL ESTIMATED POT FOR AUGUST 5, 2020

Due to historic, record-setting sales, today's draw has reached the maximum number of tickets sold & therefore the event has closed. We apologize for this inconvenience & thank all of our amazing fans for their support!

$5,417,130

And outside the bubble over in Old Strathcona ....

...... Meanwhile, around that same time Wednesday afternoon, the Fringe Festival’s fundraising telethon — Tears, Beers & Tickets You Will Never Use: A LIVE Fringe Telethon — announced that donations had exceeded $50,000. Not $5 million or $500,000… $50,000. Fifty thousand. Cause for celebration and gratitude to the Fringe donors, sure, but well short of the fundraiser’s $1 million goal.

“We’re not asking from a place of abundance, we’re asking from a place of survival,” said Fringe artistic director Murray Utas during the live telethon.

City and provincial governments will figuratively move mountains and literally reconfigure the downtown core to entice and accommodate the NHL while artists, musicians, theatre organizations and beloved venues struggle to survive.

....the Fringe — which expects to absorb a $3 million financial hit — pleads for angel investors leaves not only a bad taste in the mouth but presents a bad look for a city that perpetually pats itself on the back for supporting the arts.

Can we call Edmonton the City of Champions without winning Stanley Cups? Apparently not. Could we call Edmonton the Festival City without the Fringe? Not a chance.

Didn’t know the the Fringe was having a 50/50 draw. Perhaps part of the problem whiny arts critic. The proceeds go to actual charities, not to the Oilers. Although maybe they can use the funds to skirt cap space issues to employ a 1st line RW.

I think the Jets did fairly well this season considering the players that they lost, especially Buff just before the season started. I think if Winnipeg can shore up the D, they should be a playoff team next year.

Actually, I think the unfortunate, and of course completely 100% accidental, loss of Scheifele was what they couldn't overcome. Without him and Laine the power play was completely gone and it showed. Losing an aging Byfuglien didn't really matter much except for the time and resources that that episode wasted. The new defence had really rounded into form at the break but it just seemed that Pionk and Morrissey weren't back into shape for the playoffs.

A cross check to his right arm that injured his left hand? After Laine elbowed Gio in the head no less. Tkachuk did not take him into the boards either, he toe hacked the ice, thats what caused the injury.

Still sucks either way, dont like seeing players get injured.

40% chance of Lafrenierre going to Edmonton, Toronto, or Pittsburgh. Bring on the chaos.
