Not the same project and the address is correct. They have this labeled as Archer and on the north side of the street. The one we were talking about's address is on Clark.

It's an old autoshop that's all fenced off with construction signs. Would be great if something urban were going on that corner - which has just been such a mess for so so long.
I’m thinking this will look really close to the design at Irving and Ashland

Does anyone have current construction pics of the new Columbia College student center? I'm curious to see how it looks with the glazing installed..

I walked by the other day but was carrying things and couldn't snap a picture. Tons of progress since last time I walked by.

They have a webcam here:

anyone know what's going up at NW corner of ainslie/clark in uptown?

looks like they're doing foundation work for something, at least from what i could tell looking through the construction fencing.

I think it is this:

http://chicago47.org/wp-content/uplo...v.-7-12-17.pdf

4 stories, 54 units, 29 parking spaces.

NIMBYs must’ve gotten the density lowered, but parking also came down substantially from 1:1 due the street getting a new P designation

Don't know if this already came up, but proposed for the zoning commission is a 188' office building for the parking lot at the corner of Illinois and LaSalle Street. Looks like the formerly approved hotel is officially out.

^^^ Nice. That's good scale infill. Are they taking 154 Hubbard as well? If the building behind is the same length east-west as the front, it would have to. And go from LaSalle to the mid-block alley.

I've seen worse. It'll be all real brick at that scale (probably precast for the beige accents). No podium, built to the lot lines, I can live with it, given what the rest of the street looks like.
Kind of looks like it's meant to match the Guesthouse Hotel down the street.

^^^ The other design was never proposed for that site. That was just the developer presenting examples of other projects. As you can see, the other rendering wasn't on a corner lot. I'm glad they got the P street designation. Some neighbors were fighting that.

I posted about this 4 days ago in the Highrise thread. See below. Also, the hotel is not officially out. The south side of the landmarked building is still a hotel. This is a different parcel and the owner of this parcel and the previous owner are or were in court over these 2 parcels (https://therealdeal.com/chicago/2018...rth-properties). Originally it was supposed to be a 300 unit apartment building and then Reilly declined it.

The application now calls for a 12 story, 183.5 foot office building with ground floor retail/restaurant space (23,100 sq ft). No parking. Architect is Lamar Johnson Collaborative (which was purchased by Clayco recently). It looks like they will build on the intersection and also behind the landmarked building.

The previous design looked twice as tall as this. I found an article from last year talking about the court battle of the current owner Jamie Javors with Jake Porritt which included this lot. Apparently a 300 unit apartment building was going to be built here (probably the renderings floating around) but apparently Brendan Reilly rejected the plan (surprise surprise). It was changed to a 9 story office building after that, so it looks like they've at least added 3 more floors to that and it's more like the height of a standard 17 or 18 story building.

Curbed: Some North Lakeshore Drive bus routes could be removed from city’s expanded TOD policy

Quote:
After voting in favor of an ordinance expanding the city’s transit-oriented development (TOD) zoning policy to eight high-frequency bus corridors, 46th Ward Alderman James Cappleman says he plans to amend the measure to specifically exclude routes along Lake Shore Drive in East Lakeview.

The decision to remove the #146 and #135 buses from the plan came after “speaking with a number of residents who are concerned about potential negative impacts from this ordinance,” said Cappleman’s office in an email on Monday. The move seemed largely out of character for the alderman who, in the past, has been a proponent of transit-oriented development in the 46th Ward.

“If you look at the ordinance, there aren’t even many properties along this stretch of Lake Shore Drive that would be eligible,” Tressa Feher, Cappleman’s chief of staff, told Curbed. “This came about because of a potential development in front of the 3660 [Lake Shore Drive] building.”
Arrgh!

Easy fix, make the 146 and 135 less frequent so they don't qualify!
