More destruction in Downtown Wilmington.

This one literally sat within one of the City's designated "Historic Districts" (Market Street). The Art Deco crown was pretty bad ass - no more. Rumor is more BPG luxury apartments.

Somewhat different than what usually get's posted, but it's a big development in the region which is always good to see.

New port coming to South Jersey to support offshore wind power industry

Quote:
A new hub for New Jersey’s budding offshore wind power industry is coming to South Jersey.

Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday announced plans to build a new port in Salem County to support the development of offshore wind farms off the Jersey Shore.

Officials say the New Jersey Wind Port will create 1,500 permanent jobs, generate $500 million in annual economic activity, and help the state reach its goal of gradually relying more on so-called clean energy.

The facility — which officials said will be the first port built for the purpose of offshore wind in North America — is set to be built on the same artificial island that is home to the Hope Creek Nuclear Power Plant and Salem Nuclear Power Plant in Lower Alloways Creek.

The port will serve as the point where wind turbines are constructed and then loaded onto ships. The ships will then take the turbines out to sea, and install them at their final location.

Do any of you remember the original Ardmore Station redevelopment plans? Dranoff was involved. I recently started a job with the Township, and I found these plans in a shared folder. Pretty bizarre.

Just listened in on this. They sound very serious which is awesome. It would be an extension of the R6 Manayunk/Norristown line. It would be a dual engine between diesel and electric so they would not ned to electrify the line. They are looking to start service by 2023. Would be really exciting if they can pull this through!

Interesting report on KOP, some highlights:

Out of 1,811 completed new multifamily units, only 27 new school-aged children were generated.

The report also found that residents are attracted to amenity-rich, mixed-use neighborhoods such as the Village at Valley Forge and Moore Park KOP, which covers nearly all of the new housing development in the township.

Atlantic City water park will be 'best' in country, Showboat owner says

Quote:
ATLANTIC CITY — Bart Blatstein is looking to make waves with a proposed $100 million water park next to his Showboat Hotel property, promising an aquatic-amusement experience he says will be second to none.

“This will be the best, pound for pound, indoor water park in the country,” Blatstein said Thursday morning during a land use hearing of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority. “We’ve spent many, many hours designing something that’s going to be completely unique, so that when you arrive here at Showboat, you’ll know that you’re somewhere different.”

But the splashy amusement park may dampen Blatstein’s plans to bring gaming back to the Showboat.

The Philadelphia-based developer said less than 10% of annual visitors to Atlantic City are families. Blatstein believes the proposed 100,000-square-foot water park and entertainment center will be a catalyst for getting more families to the city.

“This is, basically, a family resort with a hotel anchored by an indoor water park, and there’ll be many, many other amenities,” Blatstein said. “My team and I are very, very excited about developing this property.”

The project also calls for a renovation of the Showboat’s existing Premier Light Tower for water park guests and the construction of a family entertainment center, with arcade games, mini golf and laser tag, inside the hotel.

I don't know how this guy consistently comes up with the worst proposals. Water park right on the beach. What the hell.

I can easily get financing for a giant glass box for screaming, panting children in the middle of a respiratory flu pandemic in one of the worst affected states, no problem! - Bart, probably

unlike the beach you can use it year round. There are water parks near the beach in many places, including Wildwood and OC MD

'Pent up demand': New apartment projects get underway in Malvern, Conshohocken

Quote:
Lcor Inc. of Berwyn broke ground on the bigger of the two, a 304-unit, 450,000-square-foot complex at 51 Washington St. in Conshohocken. On Lancaster Avenue near Route 29 in East Whiteland, GMH Capital Partners broke ground on the 225-unit Pendleton at Malvern.

The Conshohocken building boom continues with a 450,000-square-foot apartment complex near SEPTA train

Quote:
A Berwyn-based development firm has started building a 304-unit apartment complex in Conshohocken that would add to the borough’s already bursting downtown.

The 450,000 square-foot rental apartment complex at 51 Washington Street, to be built by LCOR, is a quarter-mile from Conshohocken’s main drag on Fayette Street and joins the boom of commercial and residential development in the one-square-mile borough that borders the Schuylkill River.

LCOR, which focuses on constructing large, mixed-use properties, said the 7-story development — about 355 feet from Conshohocken’s new SEPTA train station — was designed to allow easy access to public transportation.

Quote:
It would rank among the biggest projects that are underway in Conshohocken, the largest of which is $325 million SORA West, an ambitious and expansive mixed-use development by the Philadelphia-based investment and development company Keystone Property Group.

A 12-story, 427,000-square-foot office building at the corner of Fayette Street and West First Street would become the headquarters for the pharmaceutical distributor AmerisourceBergen and serve as the anchor for SORA West. The Philadelphia commercial real estate company Binswanger represents AmerisourceBergen.

A 1,500-space parking garage and 165-room hotel with a restaurant would surround AmerisourceBergen’s office. The developer has also said it intended to convert the nearby 139-year-old Conshohocken Firehouse into a gastropub as part of the project.

Other sizable developments, such as the 14-story, 260,000 square foot Seven Tower Bridge office building built by Oliver Tyrone Pulver Corp. and its partners, has drawn ire from some borough residents who have complained that new high-end commercial and real estate properties have upped the borough’s living costs over the last several years.

I love seeing the growth in Conshy and all of the cranes but it's complete gridlock now and dumping more people into the area with no real traffic planning is going to hurt its growth down the road.

Obviously only a small part of the solution but they need to really increase the frequency of the Norristown Line. The 95 as well should have more frequency to shuttle people from up the hill down to the train station. I wonder if there has been any studies or thought to putting an express bus from Conshohocken to the major employment centers in KOP.
