Oh no. Company's been around for 20 years, always in a physical office of some sort. We're currently in 69 John St. South which is also another Core Urban property, we just need more space. Previous that we were in the Liuna Building on Hughson/Main.

Any news on any takers for the first floor yet? Love to see a nice big restaurant or gallery space go in there. Or restaurant/gallery space. Being part of the art crawl I think every first floor level should at least be open to gallery showing of some kind, like the mulberry does.

Yes you did. May 17th. interr0bangr posted:

"Union Chicken (https://unionchicken.com/) is also opening at King/James, right next to Bread Bar. "

Yep. The owners of Core Urban told me themselves when I asked what the plans were for the space.

Ok I just looked at their menu and holy CRAP are they expensive.. 30 bucks for a rotisserie chicken? 20 bucks for hald a chicken? 9 bucks for a leg?? I can get one at metro for less than half that.. hell less than three times that..

https://orders.unionchicken.com/en/295

10 bucks for a salad? 13-17 bucks for a burger? Do they really expect people to pay those prices? I don't care how friggin' trendy you are. That's just ripping people off. I don't see this place lasting long there.

*EDIT* So I checked all 3 of their locations and while 2 were the same price the third was 1-2 bucks lower per item than the other 2, which maay allude to the fact that they may "adjust" their prices due to the demand and "richness" of the area around them. If so the prices will probably be much lower in hamilton. We shall see.

Fortinos chicken is $23 and having worked there I know the chickens cost them around $14 each. So $30 for high quality rotisserie chicken isn't too bad.

I get that we're way off topic here, but if you want seriously good chicken, go to Charred on James N. Insane. $18 for the whole chicken, don't ask me how.

There is a new restaurant opening in downtown Hamilton and we couldn’t be happier! The Standard is coming soon to 10 James Street North, and we are looking forward to learning more once they open. Keep an eye out for more information on their opening! #featurefriday #hamont

Hmm - interesting. Wonder what their angle would be. I'd love an elevated pub-type place downtown for after-work drinks.

I'm here for the low hanging fruit Chronamut, but I'd say pretty standard fare will be served!

Made me think of the St. Catharines Standard when I passed by and saw the name the other day. Probably not a great name if all it does is make me think of a dead newspaper.

I'm wondering if it's the same owners still stuck with the lease similar to where Brux House was. That's a big place with premium square footages.
