I also have the same, a Mac, running like yours, etc. I suppose I didn't say anything because, like others, I found another way to view them.

Thanks Martin and T2..no i was sleep most of the time, Marfa, Tx is still a great town, and they seem to rebuilding a fence on the Mexico/Texas boarder in El Paso..other than that it was too rainy and late in LA to see anything from the train.

Thx e_r for the beautiful follow-up on The Village recording studios. It certainly deserved one. It's the neighborhood's secret glory.

The auditorium is said to be haunted by an unnamed ghost.

The Village has an extremely low-key presence in the neighborhood (probably best w/ that hostile-looking police station a half-block to the south). There is zero signage, except for "Masonic Temple" carved into the lintel over the Butler St door.

Because The Village and the adjoining post office (Barrenbrock & Murray, 1963) both fly the flag, many people think it's the P.O. annex, used as a sorting facility or something:

Hey tovangar2, if you cut off the -rw-no at the end of your image URLs they seem to work properly in Firefox. I did that in your post quoted above and it shows up for me now - confirmation from others appreciated.

I can't confirm the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's and the Beatles' connection to the Masonic Lodge. The Beatles didn't meet the Maharishi until Aug 1967 at the London Hilton and then traveled w/ him to India in 1968.

The Village only claims the Masons, the Moody Bible Institute and the color lab as the historical precedents at their address:

As for Maharishi Yogi, there's this (FWIW):

433 N. Harvard made me think of another California bungalow I came across while snooping with the google-mobile.

This one is at 402 N. Windsor Blvd.

In 2007 the bungalow had a wire fence around it which led me to believe it was going to be torn down.

There's a noirish aspect too, relating to Swami Mukatananda (mentioned above)

In his teachings Muktananda put a lot of emphasis on sex - most of it negative. Curbing the sex drive released the kundalini energy that led to enlightenment.
The swami himself claimed to be completely celibate.

"Members of the guru's inner circle, however, say Muktananda regularly had sex with his female devotees. Michael Dinga, an Oakland contractor who was head of construction for the ashram and a trustee of the foundation, said the guru's sexual exploits were common knowledge in the ashram.
