This has got to be one of the strangest and oddly placed buildings I have seen proposed for new york.... but I like it.

Very futuristic. In 100 years there will probably be dozens of buildings like this all over Manhattan, cantilevered over older midrise buildings.

30 Park Madison which finished up last year a block east of Skyhouse. Its literally on 30th street between Park and Madison. Clever name

Pretty sharp building. Libeskind takes allot of crap from users. But I give him credit for being one of the first to make a proposal for a tall building at the WTC site. And for this pretty amazing design.

Libeskind wasn't one of the first to make a proposal for a tall building at the WTC site. By the time Libeskind entered the competition, a tall, signature building was mandated as part of the site plan. Previous versions called for supertalls as well.

Not true, Libeskind had a tower entry during the Max Protech exhibition, which was the very first look at what designers envisioned for the site.

There were other proposals before that even, but as far as official proposals for what would get built at the site, the supertall "skyline element" was mandated, for no other reason than public sentiment. (The desire to get the office space rebuilt also played a lesser role).

I dont know what the height of this lovely tower is supposed to be, but:

937 feet = 285.6 M

or,

274 M = 899 feet

Which is it?
