Interesting pictures.

I love the blue water of the Great Lakes! The river looks a lot like the Niagara River, which shouldn't be much of a surprise.

Is Canatara Beach on Lake Huron?

Very interesting photos. I also found the demise of the Bayside Mall to be interesting shots.

What's planned for the site once the mall is completely gone?

Thank you. Yes, Canatara Beach and Lake Chipican are in Canatara Park on the north side of the city along Lake Huron.

When I was doing the first set of photos of the mall on July 22, one of the demolition workers came up to me and started talking to me, and I asked him about future plans for the site, and he said there were plans to build a retirement home, which made me go, "Wha...?" I was hoping the site would continue to be a major destination, not just for old people but also young people as well. Maybe something a little more ambitious, but still good to hear there will be something at least.

The guy also talked about his childhood memories of the mall, which was kind of sad. I always think replacing a mall like this can be a good opportunity to improve a downtown, especially a mall that destroyed part of the downtown to begin with, but as a non-resident it's easy to forget many people will also a part of their childhood.

Btw, note that the northwest portion of the mall along Christina Street and on the right side of north entrance is actually the former Eaton's department store. That structure existed before the mall was built, and was incorporated in the mall after. You can see signs for Lambton Shared Services Centre and that building is where they are located. It was recently renovated and will not be demolished.

Oh wow, I was completely unaware Bayside Mall had even closed. I think I was in there once in maybe 2014 and I don't remember a whole lot going on. I hope something a little more appropriate for its downtown location replaces it.
