Bet if Halifax gets a team and stadium by 2026 that will inspire Moncton to do the same in 2030s

Can't deny the Argos their Grey Cup success of the last three decades. Despite the small number of teams, it's still hard to repeat especially in an era where so much player movement happens and coaching staffs tend to have less continuity, so they have their work cut out for themselves.

Since the Eskimos Edmonton won 5 in a row from 1978 to 1982 only the Toronto teams of 1996 and 1997, Montreal 2009 and 2010, and Winnipeg 2019 and 2021 (sandwiching the cancelled 2020 season) have done it. Earlier in "modern" league history there was Winnipeg 1958 and 1959 as well as 1961 and 1962 (all against Hamilton ) and Ottawa in 1968 and 1969.

That's 64 CFL seasons with 7 repeat winners across 17 championships.

But lower success since that powerful Eskie dynasty: 39 seasons, 6 Cup winners among 3 teams.

Having the same person do HC and GM duties does not seem ideal anymore IMO.

Not sure Huff is the right person as President as thats a ticket selling role and Huff is a football ops expert selling tickets is not his forte.

They can't get any worse for selling tickets given the past few years. Maybe he will bring the same passion to this role as he did as coach and GM and reinvigorate the season ticket base.

^ He didn't have the longest or most successful career as a head coach, but he still managed to become a pretty iconic figure... I always think of this when his name comes up.

^ So we're going to do the Saturday playoff thing before inevitably reverting to Sundays in 2024?

This is hilariously awesome; also sad.

---

The Edmonton Elks are offering free tickets to home games until the team wins at Commonwealth Stadium.

It's not as simple as that sentence makes it sound. It's only for P1 seats, the best seat in the house as they call it (and most expensive) and those tickets are limited.

That may actually be a smart idea, when broken down.

Advertised at $90 (plus taxes and fees, I'm guessing).

But if you had taken that offer at the start of the 2022 season, then you would have basically been paying a little over $10 a game for some of the best seats in the house!

It's kind of a weird promo because it creates conflicting feelings... the more the Elks lose, the more value you get

I love the Saturday playoffs idea - I wish they would do it for all the playoff games and GC.
The GC used to be played on a Saturday in the 1950s & 60s.
