^I think only for the renovation of the existing tower, not the new super tall tower.

Right I forgot to add 400 LSD (which probably has a better chance than Tribune).

This is assuming that WPS is actually bumped up to super tall status, which at this point is just hopeful sentiment.

With the last figures coming out at ~950' (~290m), it doesn't qualify in either US measurements (1000') or metric measurements (300m).
Right but that could be referring to the top floor. If I'm not mistaken I remember reading something like that a while back. The renderings show it around 1000'

Wouldn't it be crazy to have FIVE supertalls u/c at the same time in Chicago? With a bit of luck I suppose it could happen considering the current proposals. Sorry If we're getting too off topic, I just find the prospect extremely exciting.

Probably pretty unlikely (Vista will be done before some of these get started, even accounting for the delay with the window wall), but I think the chances of getting at least 3 UC at the same time is definitely within the realm of possibility; WPS (assuming supertall status), OCS & 400 LSD being the most probable, IMHO.

In either case, it would be (and currently is!) a hell of an exciting time to witness such drastic change to the skyline and the city.

^I think they’re pretty good too, tho i got nervous this past week. there was a lot of coverage of an editorial in WaPo about an impending economic meltdown. Related better act quick and i hope they do bc that proposal has really grown on me.

^^^ Do we need to have another talk about banana usage? No bananas until first caisson rig is in the earth. Call it a silly superstition if you must, but these are the rules.

Should we introduce an alternative celebratory fruit and/or vegetable? Since fall is approaching, maybe a caramel apple? Tasty.

JDL may have a good track record with getting high-end developments off the ground (as does Related), but their architectural product hasn't necessarily been eye-popping.

Yes, One Chicago Square is certainly better because they tapped Goettsch to do the marquee tower. But most everything else they do is with Hartshorne Plunkard and fairly run-of-the-mill, including No. 9 Walton. It's not bad, but nothing that architecture scholars will analyze and revere.

I am so glad to hear that this is on track to start construction. It's a very beautiful building. I kinda wish it would be built in the south loop lol

GC was recently selected. Power.

MEPs are scheduled to mobilize early 2020. This one is right on schedule.

Okay sort of a stupid question but an older friend who grew up in the old neighborhood west of this site told me that the lot across from Holy Name Cathedral was the site where Dion O'Banion was gunned down in his flower shop in the 1920's which began the rise of the Capone era. Can anyone confirm that this is the same site? If so, the developer and leasing agents need to open up some type of flower establishment in the building. Would only seem fitting..….Thanks to anyone that can confirm.
