So far downtown...

A crane at St. Jude (more soon)
A crane at One Beale.
A crane at the Clipper site. No dirt has moved, but there's one sitting there.
Convention center may get a crane with its next phase starting.
Union row starting demolition here in a month or two.
Wiseacre Brewery in construction mode.
South city construction on the 2nd phase
Some apartments near the Civil Rights museum are being constructed
Fedex Logistics HQ at old Gibson Factory

I'm sure I'm missing a few. Not including minor projects. These are what I notice driving downtown every other day.
Crane is also up for the new Southland Casino Hotel tower in West Memphis

By Jacob Steimer – Staff Reporter, Memphis Business Journal

Quote:
The old, three-story office building at 3637 Park Ave. is the first phase of Underwood's big plans for the corridor near the University of Memphis. He hopes to eventually build another three-to-five-story apartment building behind the current one. And, with purchases of the Easy Money property at 3638 Park Ave. and the adjacent brick building set to close in a month, he's trying to buy as many Park properties as he can.

Nice. That's exactly the type of local investment distressed areas need.

Exactly. The more we can get people to have courage and invest in neighborhoods that aren't always the typical desirable areas, they'll see there's opportunity to make money beyond those lines.

TVA leaders outline plan to reuse old Allen Fossil plant site
By Bill Dries/ The Daily Memphian

Quote:
The 60-year-old Allen Fossil plant is scheduled for demolition in 2022, Tennessee Valley Authority President and CEO Jeff Lyash said Tuesday as leaders got a look at possible future uses for the 500-acre site... “One (possible use) that’s been suggested is an expansion of the port to create a multimodal-transportation hub here,” Lyash said. The process of restoring the southwest Memphis site, treating coal ash water and removing the coal ash to an approved dump site will likely take a decade or more.

Downtown Memphis Commission considers another Main Street renovation — its own HQ
By Jacob Steimer – Staff Reporter, Memphis Business Journal

Quote:
The organization wants to put on a hard hat with a proposed renovation of the old North Memphis Savings Bank building, which has been the Downtown Memphis Commission's (DMC) home for more than 20 years. The renovation would include the five vacant floors at the top of the building and would have to be approved by the commission's board and the board of the Center City Development Corp… The renovation would provide about 5,500 square feet of leasable office space in the skinny tower, according to the letter. Construction would cost between $2.3 million and $3 million, plus about 7 percent more in soft costs.

The city plans to build a new 200,000-square-foot sports and events complex, featuring a multipurpose building that can hold basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, gymnastic, track and other sports competitions, as well as trade shows, graduations and other special events... The city also plans a 700,000-square-foot, mixed-use development of retail stores, restaurants, hotels, entertainment, commercial office space and multifamily residential on the northern end of the site — along Central Avenue — called “the Village District.”... Parking will initially be all surface parking, but as density increases, according to the city, it will install parking decks and if needed, a parking garage.
