I’d love that Tall-y on the left to be phase 1.

Whatever Phase I is, it won't be small... It will be over half of the full site which is 84.55 acres.

Timber Office Project Planned Near Houston's Buffalo Bayou

Local Partners to Develop Mid-Rise Project at Autry Park

A boutique office project is tentatively set to break ground next year in what could be Houston's first office building constructed of cross-laminated timber. (Local Partners)

Developers behind a 14-acre mixed-use project overlooking Houston's Buffalo Bayou Park are betting on a boutique, sustainable office design to gain a competitive edge to attract tenants in a tough leasing environment.

The office project is part of Autry Park, the newly named mixed-use project being developed by Hanover Co. and Lionstone Investments.

At full build-out, the project is expected to include 1,400 apartments, 350,000 square feet of office space and 100,000 square feet of retail space near Allen Parkway at the corner of West Dallas Street and the future Buffalo Park Drive.

Local Partners is developing the office portion of the project and plans to include two office buildings: one 20-story building built with traditional concrete and one six- or seven-story building built with cross-laminated timber.

The mid-rise office building with cross-laminated timber for the floor and ceiling decks in combination with a steel frame is the first publicly proposed cross-laminated timber office project in Houston. Another unrelated timber project, involving apartments, was announced earlier in the city.

However, it is "very likely other developers are considering this technology" in the city as the nascent building technique gains traction, said Shon Link, managing partner at Local Partners. Link previously worked at the Houston real estate firm Midway before breaking off to form his own development firm two years ago.

That's an obsolete version discovered before the project was officially announced.

Former Halliburton campus to be demolished to make way for 50-acre mixed-use development

Quote:
A nearly 50-acre corporate campus near Houston’s Chinatown area that was once owned by a division of Halliburton Co. is set to be demolished to make way for a new mixed-use development.

While plans for the new development have not yet been made public, Johnson Development Services and the Houston office of Gensler are crafting a master plan that will include office, retail and residential spaces, the news release said. Transwestern has been tapped to oversee office leasing for the project with several build-to-suit opportunities.

The property at 10200 Bellaire Blvd. was formerly known as the Halliburton Oak Park Campus, taking its name from the company that had it built in the 1970s. The building also had ties to Brown & Root, which was a Halliburton subsidiary at the time before it merged with M.W. Kellogg to create KBR.

My Dad did as well, at the same time. He also worked at the Clinton Dr campus. Then, he moved to London and Cairo for about 4 years to work on projects there.

I don’t have any family connections to it(well my great grandmother was a member of the Root family ). I do remember as a small child in the early 90s staring out the car window on the beltway that behemoth being out in the middle of nowhere though. It and Auchans and the silvery NOV tower.

It’s fascinating how that part of the city only took 30 years to go through a complete cycle of brand new suburbia to decay to revitalization.

Yeah, he was sent around the world too. Don't remember if he lived overseas though.

Lots of competition in that area, but location location location. Hard to believe that area on the east side of BW8 between Westheimer and Richmond is still just an apartment complex surrounded by open fields.

The Memorial City Mall Cluster

Newest addition is the residential on the left, the additional offices have been put on hold unsurprisingly (the gaping spaces/parking lot surrounding it)

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is the latest tech company to leave Silicon Valley, and is moving to Houston

Quote:
Hewlett Packard Enterprise is the latest tech company to shift its focus away from Silicon Valley, announcing Tuesday that it will relocate its headquarters from San Jose, California, to Houston, Texas.

“HPE’s largest U.S. employment hub, Houston is an attractive market to recruit and retain future diverse talent, and is where the company is currently constructing a state-of-the-art new campus,” the company said in its fourth quarter earnings release. It’s unclear how many employees the move will affect, though the company said no layoffs will be with the move.

HPE will keep the San Jose campus, and will consolidate some of its Bay Area sites there, it said.
