Portman Residential has posted a rendering of their project at Peachtree & Pharr - 225 key hotel and 200 apartments.

I would have hoped for something more - seems a little underwhelming. The only part that seems to have any character at all, is the portion that fronts the road.

The part that fronts the road is very important. I actually like it for that reason.

Yeah, I like the frontage portion of the building too - I just wish they could have carried that design theme around to the rest of the building. I know... it costs more to do that.

It seems like over the years, this corner has had more unusual proposals than any other.

This is Buckhead, so it may turn out better than the render.

It occurred to me that there hasn't been much discussion or updates on the Graydon. I stopped by the website and saw that there were some fairly recent construction photos.

Very nice height for that stretch. That area has a very British look to me with the vegetation and the architecture.

Demolition hasn't started yet, I believe it was supposed to begin in 2020.

It's very refreshing to see them retain the Retro look & feel of the building and its surroundings, while still trying update certain features. Finding the proper balance between marrying a distinct Architectural era while adding modern features, can be a difficult thing to pull off. If they do it right, this will certainly be a unique hotel and an asset to Atlanta.
