River entrance from the lake was incredible. Some real Amon Hen-vibes!

Been forever since my last post.
I've been working on a much longer video of my Chicago model that shows off a lot of the un-built, and canceled projects of Chicago. Here's a super quick preview.

Lincoln Yards proposal modeled in Sketchup, textured with what very little full height renderings were available.

Sorry if the video is jerky. I'm experimenting with a drone mode in the gaming engine for the first time.

Huge walkthrough/flythrough animation of my Chicago model. Still a work in progress but lots to see. Of course more to come soon!

Not bad.
I was thinking of doing something like that but doing it along the CTA train system like the Tax incentive they passed for building high rises near stations except expand it to say a half mile radius from each stop.
Look at the Chicago and Wells Brown line area just exploded in the past few years Division/Ashland California/Milwaukee Blue line

Man that fly through video was insane!! Loved every second of it! Cant believe how real it all looks too, amazing job. Almost felt like i was actually there. Also great to see how it will all look if everything goes to plan. The mouth of that river looks insane with highrises on both sides. The whole skyline from Hancock to aon center will be pretty compact with supertalls. Hopefully a couple more get built to close the gap between there and the Willis tower. Insane how theres almost a solid skyline now from the south side of the park to the Northside.

Thanks guys! A couple things I plan on updating soon:

Re-building the ground plane
Adding trees and greenery
Animated cars and trains
Animated people
Multi-player abilities
and of course improving a lot of the crappy textures.

Finally finished the fly-through of my model showing the unbuilt projects of the skyline. This is probably my favorite part of my model as it really lets you see how the skyline could have been.

Wow that last shot of the skyline looks unbelievable. It took me a second to find the Sears Tower. Thanks for sharing.

So I have started what has proven to be a difficult process of getting texture maps on all of the low rise buildings in my model. My goal is to have zero white texture-less buildings in the model.

I also rebuilt all of the ground plane from scratch. Now if an image is off by a tiny sliver on one end of the model, it will be off by a whole building or two at the opposite end. It's going to take a lot of tedious scaling and shifting and lining up, but I'm really enjoying how much detail it's bringing to the model. Also I can't wait to add trees!

I did some exploring in my 3d model of Chicago in VR mode. Apologize with how shaky it translates.

Making those low-rise buildings 3D really adds to the realism of the model. Looks good.
